Nikki and Jack had been whispering and laughing all week - like they had a joke that only they knew about.
As they left that Friday, Jack winked at Nikki. "I'll pick you up at yours on Monday morning, love."
"Ok." She answered, winking back, much to Thomas' confusion - and Clarissa's annoyance. Clarissa prided herself in knowing everything!
*Monday morning...*
They timed it perfectly.
Max had just dropped Clarissa off at the Lyell, as he was going to pick her up and take her out for dinner after work, and Thomas had also just arrived. The three of them were chatting outside the centre, in the car park.
They were the prefect audience.
Into the car park, it zoomed and parked in Jack's space - much to the astonishment of Clarissa, Max and Thomas.
"What the hell?!" Max retorted as Nikki and Jack removed their helmets - in perfect unison., sniggering at the stunned looks they were currently receiving. They had been practising to make sure they could maximise the dramatic effect of their shock arrival.
Jack climbed off the motorbike before helping Nikki off it.
"What...is...that?...?" Thomas stammered, indignantly.
"Well , Thomas it's a metal mode of transport with two wheels, an engine and no roof! I believe they call it a motorbike." Jack replied flippantly, as Nikki began to snigger again at the hilarity of Jack's answer to Thomas' obvious question.
"Yes, Jack. I know that bit!" Thomas said patiently, ignoring Nikki.
"What he means..." Clarissa seemed to have found her voice again. "is...did you to just wake up one day and spontaneously decide to get a motorbike?"
"Well no Clarissa, it wasn't that spontaneous." Jack remarked. "I had to pass my test first!"
"No, it wasn't spontaneous." Nikki answered, re-emphasising what Jack had just said. "Jack decided a while ago that it was his time to have a mid-life crisis - and I said I'd join him!"
