Large, cold raindrops fell onto Lapis. She coughed. This was no weather to be stuck in, especially with a cold. She sighed. "Please let me find the store my car is at…" Her eyes lit up as she turned the corner and saw her dark blue-black car. Which reminded her, she really needed to get food.
Lapis walked into the store. She started to cough again, losing her breath. After a moment, she stopped. Staring at the 15 dollars she had, she wondered if that was all she needed. "It's plenty." She murmured to herself. All Lapis needed was food, water, and with any extra money, cough syrup.
She let out a long sigh. After shopping, she would probably need to get gas for her car, which she most definitely could not afford at the moment. Not to mention that she also desperately needed to shower, do laundry, and use the bathroom. The first two could wait until tomorrow. The third couldn't. The more she thought about it, Lapis realized that she needed to finish getting her stuff rather quickly.
Lapis finished up her shopping and put everything in her car. Another customer had seen how bad her cold was, and she offered to get her some medicine. Lapis nearly declined, but she didn't have enough money to get it herself. Plus, she was only 17, there wasn't a very high chance she'd be able to get it. The other customer had gotten her some cough syrup. Lapis had only one extra dollar.
She checked the amount of gas her car had. It was enough for the next few days, which relaxed her. She wished to sleep, but she knew she couldn't yet. Lapis headed back into the store. Luckily, there weren't many people at the store that late, so she would be alone in the bathroom, which gave her some time to try and clean herself. "One less thing to do tomorrow..." She murmured. After using the bathroom, Lapis splashed sink water onto herself until she felt a bit cleaner. It was hard, since she still was in a public bathroom, and people still could come in and out as they pleased. Although her wash wasn't very thorough, it was the best she could do. She didn't feel as disgusting, but her cold returned the horrible feeling.
The blue-haired girl went back to her car, nose running. Lapis decided that her food could wait until tomorrow. Along with her cold, she had started to develop a headache. Right now, she needed rest more than anything. Her stomach felt as if it were eating itself, but she continued to tell herself to wait until the morning to eat.
Lapis started to fall asleep. She wiped her nose on her blanket and looked at her car clock. It read half past eleven. If she hadn't been homeless, this wouldn't have affected her the slightest bit, but she knew that she would have to be up bright and early. However, it wouldn't be too bad for her. Sleep deprivation had never hurt Lapis. She let out a loud, content sigh and drifted into sleep.
