The young waterbender walked swiftly into the courtyard of the fire nation palace. She knew that her husband- the new fire lord- would be there, clearing his mind after a long night of meetings with the generals.

"Good morning your highness," she greeted teasingly, "Happy anniversary."

He smiled warmly at her. "Happy anniversary to you too, Fire Lordess."

She sat next to him on a bench near the turtle duck pond and gave him a quick kiss. Zuko looked down at her lap and stared questioningly at the small box in her hands. "What's in the box," he asked, now looking up at her face. "Oh nothing, just a little present to celebrate our first year of marriage."

"You didn't have to get me anything."
"Of course I did! Eight years ago we hated each other and now, we're happily married. I think that deserves a gift."

He took the small box acceptingly, opening it slowly only to reveal a slim red creature-a fire ferret. The firebenders' good amber eye opened wide with surprise.

"Katara, how did you know I love fire ferrets? I've always wanted one, but my father would never allow any pets."

"A few weeks ago I overheard you and your uncle talking about them so I figured that's what your present should be. I'm glad you like it."

"Like it? I love it! Does it have a name?"

"Her name is Ursa. She's sweet, kind, and loving just like how you described your mother to me so I figured that would be a good name for her."

"Thank you, Katara. Now that you've given me this awesome gift it's time for me to give you yours."

"Aw Zuko, you shouldn't have."

"Someone as amazing as you deserves a present of equal quality."

Katara blushed, still not used to Zukos' compliments. He called to one of his servants to bring in the gift.

"Now," he said while getting up, "close your eyes."

"Zuko, I'm not going to close my eyes."

"Please, for me." he looked lovingly into her eye while bringing his hands to her shoulders.

"Fine." The waterbender put her hands over her eyes like told to and waited.

The servant came back and handed the young fire lord the gift. "You can open your eyes now." She did as told. In her husband's hands was a small, blue oval shaped animal with four arms and whiskers. Tears brimmed her eyes then slowly flowed down her cheeks. Zuko set the creature down and hugged the crying Katara. "Zuko," she said in a slightly shaky voice, "Thank you so much. This is the closest thing to home I've had in a long time. I love you."

"I love you more." He whispered to her. They back out of the embrace and kissed.
