Darkness

Summary : Sirius's last thoughts as he died.

Please read and review

Sirius Black thinks about the life he once had, and the life he could have had. All he has left is the memories and the black veil that threatens to cover then up.

He stands staring at the black veil the only thing separating him from Harry and Remus, in the distance he can hear the raging battle that is taking place on the other side of the veil along with Harry's cries as he shouts out his name waiting for a reply, which never comes.

Sirius screams out to him wanting to say he's sorry for leaving him, but as the words leave his lips they echo around the darkness only to then be absorbed by the never-ending veil. Leaving Sirius in the deadly silence once again.

He thinks back to when James and Lily were still alive promising them that he will always be their to protect Harry from danger, when they asked him to be Harry's godfather- that was one of the happiest moments in his life.

The promise he never kept.

He was never there for Harry for the first 12 years of his life because he was stuck in Azkaban, even when he escaped it was Harry who had kept him out of danger.

Then only 2 years later he saw Harry again while his was staying hidden with The Order Of The Phoenix only to keep himself hidden away from Harry once more.

The last time he saw Harry was only minutes ago on the other side of the veil trying to save his life only to get himself killed in the process, hurting Harry emotionally more than he could ever imagine.

He'll never forget the look on Harry's face as he fell through the veil it started at disbelief to total despair as he ran towards the veil only to be stopped by a shocked looking Remus.

That was the last thing he saw before the darkness closed around his eyes.
