As long as he was on the ocean he was safe.
It was a promise sung to him as a young lad by the very waves theirselves. He belonged to the ocean and the ocean protected what was it's.
For Samuel that was enough.
He didn't need nor desire anything else.
He spent his life at the sea with only his beloved boat; Amaranth holding him just above its tender hold. Maybe he had been tempting Fate but it was his to tempt. Of course that also meant the concerquences where his and his alone.
And what concerquences they where.
The Boatman hadn't even glimpsed the blade move before his throat had been slit from ear to ear, his ocean blue eyes widening ever so slightly at the man who had only just told him that he considered him a close friend.
"I'm sorry Samuel, but I can't risk them knowing. Goodbye my Friend. "
He felt a hand on his chest before he hit water.
The water was like ice, but at the same time it was a healing elixer unlike any other. He could feel his skin knitting itself back together as his body shifted. He heard a whirl, from his Amaranth's engine and could feel his eyes narrow.
He didn't care if Corvo attempted killing him; the Royal Protector was not taking his boat.
Amaranth was his. The last thing left of a love that once consumed him.
He gripped the edge tightly with both hands, lifting his upper body from the water. The younger's dark eyes where- wither in suprise or fear the Boatman was't quite sure.
"Get off my boat. "
He topsides it but the man just manages to pull off his vanishing trick right before it can fully tip over.
Bastard.
His eyes dart about, searching, but he doesn't see the man so the Boatman dives under once more. Gripping the rope he ensured to always keep tied to his beloved craft, the elder flickers his powerful tail, dragging the boat away from the dock and his 'friend'.
He watches the topsided Amaranth move futher away from the docks at a startling speed, dark eyes darting into the dark waters where he knows the man- if he was even that- is moving about.
He hadn't wanted to kill Samuel, the man was a close friend and a good confidence, but Emily's safety would always come first.
He watches the Amaranth until its a distance no human could be capable of seeing, before its suddenly tipped right side up. A moment later, snowy hair- so white it actually glows- resurfaced as what he knows is Samuel pulls itself into the Amaranth.
The man looks younger then Corvo has ever seen before, laughing lines and weather-beaten face have all but vanished only to be replaced with a youthful look. Well muscled and perfectly fit, the elder man's legs are gone, replaced by a silkly looking sky blue/pure white tail that is actually glowing.
Its a rare sight- a legend. Something Corvo has never thought he would ever seen.
Mermaids where considered myths; Children of the Sea, even by his own kind.
He's beautiful and while Corvo wishes to contiue looking; the Royal protector still has Emily to think about. He blinks away.
AN: When I envision Samuel as a supernatural creator I always think of him as a mermaid seeing his vast connection to rivers and oceans.
I imagine Corvo as an angel winged sort.
The Outsider... Well he's the Outsider.
And all three of them are rather brilliant at pretending to be human.
