Chrystophsis

6 years before the beginning of the Star Wars...

The day was hot and humid. The sweltering heat had been uncomfortable and strange. It was not unheard of to have such weather on Chrystophsis, however it was unwelcome all the same. It was silent in the night, the streets empty just outside the magnificent city Of Chaleydonia. The silence was quickly broken by the uncomfortable shriek of an infant. The mother quickly rushed to her side, the simple brown dress swishing at her side.

"No, no, no me sanami. The heat will go away."

The infant still whimpered, twisting in her small cradle. Her little amber eyes were filled with tears. A something stretched out the the mother, touching the very thoughts of her mind. It was a sort of feeling, not uncomfortable, but confused. Frightened almost.

"Tabitha." sighed the woman. Picking up the infant she put a light smile on her face.

" Sanami what has you so soured, if not the heat?"

The mother swept back a lock of black hair from Tabitha's face, and stiffened as the wave of something, which she knew was the Force, washed over. With a thrill of shock of and anticipation the mother realized the feeling was clear, and it was urging her eyes close her eyes.

The vision came crashing down on her, as though an iron weight had been placed very suddenly on her head. Fire rained down upon a large city. The buildings caught fire. People ran out, struggling to run from the collapsing city, but the moment they went about 500 yards from the city, they vaporized. It seemed as though they had hit an invisible shield that was keeping them within the city. Soon all the people were gone. All had either vaporized or died.

The mother had never seen anything like the mass destruction she was witnessing. Watching this horror scene, she saw five children emerge. With a thrill of horror she realized they were not just human, for they were shining with a faint golden light that identified her species. Hanoids. Those five children were the last of the Hanoids.

The mother found herself in the darkness of her mind and she opened her eyes. Tabitha was no longer crying. She seemed to be shaking, and the mother realized she was trembling. Putting the child down She mulled over what she had seen in her vision. Five children...her daughter was destined to grow up in the Jedi Temple. She might be safe from the destruction of her species, but the mother had to be sure. She knew there was a great power every mother could bestow, but it came with a great price. So great the price was, that only one mother had ever did it for her child, and that child had lived a miserable life. But if it was the end of her species...she may not have a choice.

The pillars of the Holocron library that resided in the city, rose above a two small figures. The mother stared up at the bright dome. If she was right, then this was the most powerful place to do it. Walking up to the top step, she placed Tabitha on the steps. The child happily giggled, as though thinking this was a game. The mother smiled, but tears betrayed her thought. She looked into her daughter's face for the last time before chanting the ancient spell:

I, Jahera Nayza, look to the stars to protect this child,

ancient power do bestow!

They power to chose when to end her life,

Take her to the Jedi Temple before the first star of Virgo!

The child glowed bright blue before disappearing. Jahera closed her eyes. She had sent her daughter away. She had done her part to save her race, but she would never see her daughter again.
