The night was as black as Hell, with not a star in sight. Everything was quiet… everything except the sound of her arrow piercing her target. The sound, though soft, echoed through the night. She quietly pulled it out and put it back in her bag. Far off, she heard a scream. "Mother?" she thought. "Oh my god, MOTHER!"
She ran to the house, quickly as she could, and found the door broken down. A black figure ran off around the corner. But that didn't matter. She walked inside the house. "Mother?" she said softly. Her mother lay unconscious on the floor, blood pouring from a wound in her chest. She knelt down and lifted her mother's slender wrist, feeling for a pulse. No life ran through her veins.
"Oh, Mother… I shouldn't have left you. I shouldn't have." She lifted her mother onto a bed, and silently pulled out a blade. The initials on the hilt we unintelligible. A tear fell down her cheek as she let her quiver of arrows fall to the ground. She picked up the phone, and told them to send an ambulance and the police over as soon as possible.
She silently cried as she pulled a white sheet over her mother's face. Her brother, Toya, had left for college long ago, and died there under the same circumstances. Her father had left on a journey, and never returned. Her father was kind to her at the times he was there, and he never spoke to her harshly. As she walked outside, she tripped over another body.
Her father's glassy brown eyes looked up at her. A blade identical to the one she'd found in her mother was through his throat.
The police arrived at that instant, and an ambulance took the bodies away. One of them came over to her.
"Do you have any idea what's happened? Besides the fact that they were murdered? Did you find anything?" The police-woman handed her a handkerchief. "I'm Yume, If it helps." (heh… MElizabethT gave me the idea of that name in one of her stories… Thanks! I'm only using it here though… so I'm not using it as a main character like you may be…)
"Yume… I… I was out practicing my archery. My mother was fond of it…" a tear slid down her cheek and fell to the earth. "I heard a scream off in the distance, and when I came back, my father's body was not on the ground. My mother's was inside, crumpled up, and the wound in her chest was bleeding badly. When I turned around to wait outside, my father's body was in the doorway, and I tripped over it. I haven't seen my father in 12 years… since I was four. My brother was killed in the same manner at his university."
"I see." Yume was jotting down all that had been said on a little note pad. "And did you find anything? A sword, perhaps? Did you see anything?"
"I saw… a black figure. All black. He looked back, and he had brown eyes." She watched as the police woman wrote that down too.
"Thank you, Sakura. We have a room at a hotel for you, at the Grand Hotel on Cherry Tree Street. Just give them my name." she shook Sakura's hand, gave her a hug for comfort, and continued helping to search the house. She looked back at Sakura, nodded her head, and told her to go on.
When she arrived at the hotel, the people were kind to her. They gave her some food, and they gave her a luxurious room. "I couldn't accept this! I couldn't!" She told them. But they just said for her to get some rest.
Sakura pulled the blades out of her pocket. She wanted revenge. A burning desire for it ran through her veins. The next day, she would go to Syaoran. He'd know what to do. He'd help her to kill the one who had ruined her life and destroyed her future. She would kill him before he could cause anyone else any harm. She would send him to Hell, where he belonged.
