A/R: This story isn't much but it's what I felt at the time. Enjoy!

-Chapter 1-
-- Home --

Vash watched as the rain poured down upon the parched desert sand. Meryl had also been watching from her bedroom window, waiting for him to walk into town drenched. Waiting for the sound of his boots on the front porch, a knock on the door and to be in his arms once more.
How much longer would her make her wait? He had taken 3 months after all. Her heart sank just thinking about him being dead. She shook her head slightly to shake that thought from her head, but it still remained.
She had become too tired. She slept now, dreaming of the day when her lover would return and she would run into the forgiving warmth of his arms, never letting go.

THE FOLLOWING MORNING

Meryl awoke early, to the crash of lightening. Then and again she would think of Vash more than anything else and forget about the task at hand.

ELSEWHERE

Vash had awoken to the sound of the light 'pitter-patter' of the pouring rain, on the hotel roof. He had taken his morning shower, and gotten dressed, now and again looking out the window to see what was going on outside.
No one had walked outside since the storm had started up. He walked to his bed and sat down upon it, thinking for a bit.
"I wonder I should go and see her. It's already obvious where she lives" Vash said, sighing as he rose from where he was sitting, "I hope she won't be too angry."
That said he left his hotel room, and the hotel, walking down the sandy road the rain pouring down on him as he walked. Vash stopped at the front porch of the white home, standing here watching Meryl leave the kitchen and walking to her room.
He stepped onto the porch, and Meryl stopped at the entrance of her room. There was a knock at the door. She hesitated moving from the entrance of her room, but walked to he front door. Her hand stopped in front of the door handle. Was it really him? Did he really come back?

She closed her eyes and opened the door slowly, quietly. Upon opening her eyes, there stood the love of her life. Drenched, he stood here, smiling at her. Meryl ran up and hugged him, crying into his chest. He put his arms around her, placed his chin on her head and said happily, "I'm home."
