Within Her Eyes

The End is The Begining

His honey colored eyes reflected the flame's light. His robe was long ago disgarded and was probably ashes by now. He stared out into the flames. They were the only thing left that showed there once raged a battle upon the once grassy field. It was the war that finally ended all the suffering that preceeded. The man was young but the year's of strain and worry aged his apearence. His once golden brown hair was now dulled and graying at the temples. His fair skin was now smudged with ashes that were carried on the wind.

He looked around at the bodies, mostly dead, some had a white mask beside them other's were people he had known. He knew he should be celbrating with everyone on the final end to the enemy, but he couldn't bring himself to celebrate. He just stared upon the moving flames that were now being controlled by magic to stop it from spreading. He no longer had any one to celbrate with. All the people he ever cared for died. No one would really miss him if he passed. Of course he had his friends at the Order, his former students that still looked up to him, but they all had families and each other to look toward. He had no one. Or so that was what he forced upon himself. He wouldn't let anyone get close to him. Those who really knew him for who he was, and not for some teacher or co-worker, had died. When his friends died a little of himself died with them. He thought of himself as a shell, one who just walked as a ghost among the living.

He was unaware of the pair of eye's set on him. The young eye's stayed on his stationary form as she approached. She stood at his side waiting for him to acknowledge her presence. When he looked down slightly he was met with her hazel eyes that had an odd ring of red in the center. A soul tear fell from his tired honey colored eyes. With a gentle swipe of her thumb she brushed the tear away, holding his face in her hand. He made to turn away from her pentrating graze, but she grasped his face in both hands. She brought her lips to his in a rough kiss. At first he held back, but soon all of his woe's, his pain, his anger, and even his love went into the kiss. They came apart for air, as they leaned on each other for support.

"This," she whispered to him. "This is something no one can take from you. No matter what happens." She told him as though she knew what he had been thinking.

"And what is this?" he asked out of breath as he leaned on her forehead.

"It is the feeling that you're loved and always will be loved no matter what may come next." She told him plainly as he watched the flames dance in her eye's. "Don't let anyone tell you different, not even yourself."

He looked into her eye's and saw only love in them. Yes, he thought, she is what he had. She shared his soul. He took her hand in his and they walked away, together.
