Seven years ago, everything changed. They'd been together for almost two years, been through everything together. When they first met, they were each broken. Eliot from his time as a hitter, his time doing things that no man should have to witness, let alone do. Anna from her broken marriage to a man who used her like a punching bag. They were each other's saving grace. The only stable thing the other had to depend on. Eight years ago, the world crashed around her. Seven years ago, Eliot Spencer walked out of her life.

Every day for eight years, Anna saw him everywhere. He was a face in the crowd walking past her, a voice heard in the distance that she was sure belonged to him. But the one place she saw his face the most was in that of her six year old son.

Shane was her pride and joy. He was the one thing that kept her going.

The day Eliot left her, everything stopped. They were happy one day; Eliot doing random jobs for the US Government and Anna teaching self defense classes at the local community center. It was the closest thing to normal either of them would ever know. Then Eliot came back from a job, and everything changed. He had to leave, lie low, stay as far away from the same people he'd been working for until his name cleared. He left Anna crying on their front steps as he drove away.

Anna spent the next week in bed. She did nothing but eat and sleep and watch horrible day time TV. When she started getting sicker and sicker, she thought it was just the way depression was effecting her. But then the doctor told her she was pregnant and things changed. She knew that she could no longer dwell on the fact that the one person she'd depended on had left her. She now had someone that was going to depend on her.

From the moment Shane was born, Anna couldn't deny that Eliot was his father. He had his eyes, his nose and his temper.

The terrible twos were especially terrible. It was like raising a Tasmanian devil. But when he wanted to be, Shane could be the sweetest child out there. And lord knows he had his daddy's smile. The same mischievous smile that won Anna over, got that boy out of trouble with teachers and moms everywhere.

Anna worried about what trouble Shane would get into as a teenager. Eliot had told her the stories of the things he did, and she couldn't help substitute Shane into those situations. His father could raise hell with the best of them. Anna smiled at the thought of a young carefree Eliot sneaking out and partying around a bonfire. As much trouble as she was in for with Shane's teen years, she liked the idea of being carefree.

Reviews would be much welcomed! I just don't know if I should do anything with this. Please let me know what you think. :)
