Ken sat by the waterfall, crying, clutching a small note in his hand. The essence of her still filled the paper, although she was gone. Why? he thought, continuing to sob, Why would she do this? He remembered it to clearly. Just the two of them under the night sky, when she confessed her plans for the night. "It's over Ken, all I have to do is pull the trigger, it's so simple..." It was embedding into is memory. Ken's sobs filled the otherwise quiet woods. A hand was placed on his knee, and he looked up.
"Miyako?" he asked, as she placed her other hand on his forehead.
"God, Ken, please stop crying for one second..." she said, hardly sounding sincere, which wasn't her intention.
"Leave me alone."
"It wasn't your fault."
"You wouldn't know."
Miyako took off her glasses, she was clearing crying as well. "Did she tell
you?" she asked, taking a seat on the rocks beside Ken. He nodded, craddling his
head in his hands, tears pouring down his wrists. "That night. She was... so
sure. I couldn't change her mind.. I tried to stop her but... I couldn't.
Inside, it was selfish to want her to change her mind about how her life was so
abbruptly. I knew that if I had a change of saving her, that wouldn't matter,"
he told her, through tired sobs.
Miyako put her hand on his shoulder. "I..."
she looked down and sighed, giving a few tears a chance to make it down her
cheek onto the rocks. "I can't believe she's gone..." Ken turned around and put
his hands around Miyako, resting his red face on her shoulder. She did the same.
Ken tore away and smiled. "Your makeup's running..." he told her, smiling, wipping off some if it. She giggled, to stop her tears.
"That's fine," he replied, letting out a long sigh. "I'm tired of black today... that's why I came out here..."
"I hate funeral's in general. I tend to be at them a lot." Miyako nodded and threw her black shoes out into the field. Missing a plaque by a foot or two.
"Rest in peace..." Ken said peacefully, walking up to the plaque, moving grass to reveal the name on it. 'Yagami Hikari. May Angels Be With You ' He smiled, as the tears continue to roll down his face. "...Hikari-chan..."
