No matter how hard she wanted to listen to the brainless boy of her dreams, she would NOT eat meat. For two hours they bugged her until she said yes. But before she took a bite, she muttered a spell that she learned in Madame Morrible's class that turned the meat into fruit. "Well, what does it taste like?" "Fruit." "That's not what turkey tastes like." I know. I turned it into fruit" "Oh Elphie, you cheater."
In case you don't get it, where Galinda talks about Elphaba getting lost, that is foreshadowing, and irony because between act 1 and act 2, Elphaba goes in hiding (although, we don't where she goes, or how long that time period is).
