Hey my name is Jay and I'm an orphan, and I have been for as long as I can remember I never knew my own parents just the pokémon and caretakers of this orphanage. But that is all about to change, because next week is my 15th birthday and I will finally get my own pokémon and leave this miserable place. The only bad thing about that is I still have to wait another whole week, but then again I did wait 15 years for this opportunity so I think I can manage it. Well anyway the orphanage I live in is in the incredibly boring Ironwood town where pretty much everybody is a miner, and I thank god that I'm about to leave because I hate mining and everything to do with it except the pokémon. Next week will also mark the first time that I will leave Ironwood and get to venture out and see the rest of the Casteel region.
Shit, I think I hear one of the caretakers that work here at the orphanage, ms. Kutzler. Who just so happens to hate me because I enjoy spending my time messing with her, and making her life hell, and she enjoys doing the same to me. "Jay get your lazy bum down here before I lock you in your room for a month," She shouted. well at least she's not mad at me I thought cause the threats are usually a hell of a lot worse. "Why did you think it would be a good idea to sneak out last night!" she yelled at me. Hey why do you assume I snuck out last night I'm honestly offended you'd think I could do something like that" I said sarcastically. "Oh cut the the the bullshit we both know you did it so just admit it and you'll only be locked in your room for two weeks!" she was yelling. "Oh come on do really think i would do anything to jeopardize me leaving" I responded. Well you can forget about that, now go to your room end of discussion" She said. Wow just my fucking bad luck just as I'm about to leave this fucking place I get screwed over and have to stay.
The night before my birthday I had a plan, I would sneak out early next morning while it was still dark out the next morning, wait a little bit and then meet with Professor Mangrove's assistant as planned to get my pokemon in the morning and leave without telling anybody which won't be a problem cause there was nobody in this town worth telling. I was going over the plan once more in my head when I heard tapping on my window when I looked I saw Jet. He was the one person I felt guilty about leaving, he was another orphan he's about 8 years old and he's the one person I am very close with, he is like a little brother to me. I let him into the room he's been the only person I've talked to over the last 6 days. "Hey Jay I brought you some food cause I doubt they've been feeding you," he said handing me an apple. "Thanks buddy," I said with a mouth full of apple. "Also I'm really sorry you can't leave, actually I am not I never wanted you to leave, but I know you really wanted to," he said. "Yeah about that I am still leaving I was going to sneak out early tomorrow morning while everybody is still asleep" I responded guiltily. "Well then you have to take me with you" he said determined. I sighed I knew it was pointless to argue with him I knew how determined he was he hated this place as much as I did, "fine you can come with me but if you are not awake when I go then I'm leaving without you." A big smile broke out across his face "Thank you thank you thank you" he yelled excitedly, "and I promise I'll be awake when you leave you won't regret this." To be hones I was kind of happy to have somebody going with me it would be much less boring. "Alright see you in the morning" I said.
