Summary: Jack isn't comfortable with waiting. Sparrington.
He should have been here by now.
He should have been here a long time ago.
He should know better than to keep him waiting.
He hated to wait.
Jack restlessly wrote his lovers name in the sand.
Had he been delayed?
Was he regretting the whole affair?
Had he been injured without Jack knowing?
Maybe he didn't he love him after all?
Had it all been empty words, empty promises?
He grabbed a fistful of sand and slowly let it fall through his fingers, down on the name.
How could he have been so stupid?
He of all people should have known better.
He shouldn't have let himself be buggered by the Enemy.
He shouldn't have fallen in love with a Commodore.
A sudden noise broke his trail of thoughts.
James?
Soldiers?
He turned around, ready to leap into action, hand on the butt of his pistol.
He could see a shadow moving.
His heart beat faster, hopeful, could it be…?
The shadow came closer, giving him a warm smile.
"I wasn't worried," Jack blurted out.
James only grinned.
