I painted red for the wounds and blood,

I painted green for death and fear.

I painted gray for pain and sorrow,

I painted black for doom so near.

I painted white for the face of the dead,

I painted brown for the blood-soaked dirt.

I painted blue for the tears of the victims' friends,

I painted purple for the bruise and hurt.

..

I painted orange for the morning sky,

I painted yellow the deciding dawn.

I painted silver for the final battle,

I painted gold for the good that won.

With my colors I painted war,

Then I sat down and painted peace.
