Author's note: Alternate end of the first of episode of Star Trek: Voyager with Riker as captain.
What if no 6: Riker was captain of Voyager
The alien known as 'the Caretaker' is dead and Captain Will Riker and Lt Tuvok stand there, next to what's left of him.
"Captain Riker, shall I activate the program to take us back?" says Tuvok, with his typical Vulcan-calmness.
"And what's going to happen to the Ocampa when we're gone?" says Riker.
"Captain, we should return while we can..." says Tuvok as he place a hand on his captain's shoulder.
Riker tap his combadge. "Riker to Voyager! Beam us to the bridge."
Riker and Tuvok are transported to Voyager's bridge.
"Mr Tuvok, can you activate the re-call program from here?" says Riker to Tuvok in a serious tone.
"Yes, sir." says Tuvok.
"Open a channel to the Maquis-vessel." says Riker.
"Channel open, sir."
"Commander Chakotay, prepare to return to the Alpha Quadrant." says Riker.
"We're ready over here." says Chakotay.
"Good! We'll talk again once we're back in known space. Riker out!" says Riker.
"I understand. Chakotay out!" says Chakotay.
"Tuvok, activate the array's re-call program! Now!" says Riker as he take his place in the captain's chair.
"Aye, sir!" says Tuvok as he tap a few controls at his station.
On the screen the bridge-crew can se a big bright beam launch from the array. Suddenly a big rift in space appears.
"Maximum impulse-speed into the rift, mr Paris!" says Riker to Tom Paris.
"Aye, sir! Here we go..." says Tom from the helm-station.
Voyager enter the rift with the Maquis-ship close behind.
Soon Voyager begins to shake hard.
"Shields are down to 50%, captain..." says Tuvok.
"Transfer backup-power! We gotta make it. It's now or never, Tuvok." says Riker.
"I transfer power, now! Shields are holding, sir." says Tuvok.
"Captain, I'm not sure we'll make it..." says Tom.
"Maintain speed. Hold her together, mr Paris." says Riker.
"I'm tryin'..." says Tom.
"Do it!" says Riker.
15 seconds later Voyager return to to normal space.
"Are we...?" says Riker.
"Location...sector 003, Alpha Quadrant!" says Harry Kim with a smile.
Suddenly the Enterprise-E drop out of warp straight ahead.
"Incoming message from the Enterprise, sir." says Tuvok.
"On screen." says Riker.
Captain Picard appear on the screen.
"Will Riker, old friend, good to see you! Are you okey over there?" says Picard.
"Yes, sir. We're fine." says Riker.
"Our sensors picked up some sort of spacial-rift..." says Picard. "Can you explain that...?"
"Long story..." says Riker.
"Lookin' forward to hearing it. I'm happy that you're okey." says Picard.
"Voyager out!"
"Captain, the Maquis-ship is attacking us..." says Harry Kim.
"Disable their weapons and engine-systems and beam 'em all to the brig and cargo-bays." says Riker.
"Aye, sir!" says Tuvok. "Torpedos, away!"
On the Maquis-ship.
"Chakotay, they're tryin' to knock out our weapons!" says B'Elanna Torres.
"Give me weapon and helm-control and I'll give those damn Starfleet-guys one hell of a punch down their throats!" says Chakotay.
"Controls are yours..." says B'Elanna.
Chakotay start to tap controls when he and his people are beamed off their ship.
On the bridge of Voyager.
"Captain, the Maquis-crew is secured in the brig and cargo-bay 1." says Tuvok.
"Good! Mr Paris, take us back...to Earth." says Riker.
Voyager and the Enterprise-E fly to Earth side by side.
