Tears and Tenderness

All right go to JK of course

Ron lay awake on the floor of the dusty old Grimuald Place running over the days events in his mind. Just hours ago he had his beautiful Hermione in his arms as he swayed them lovingly to a slow romantic song at his brothers wedding. She had been leaning against his chest, while he had his cheek pressed into her hair, occasionally planting a soft kiss into her shiny curls. At this point he would do anything to get back to that moment where the war outside the burrows enchantments was forgotten, and replaced with happiness and love.

He could hear Harry's deep breathing proving he was in a deep sleep. All he heard from Hermione were little breaths from Hermione which he thought was adorable. He sat staring at the cobwebbed ceiling for a couple more minutes before he started to hear whimpering coming from Hermione. He turned on his side to face her only to see tear tracks run down her face before she let out a quiet sob, that broke Ron's heart.

That was enough for Ron to realize Hermione was upset and having a nightmare. He climbed out of his sleeping bag, and shuffled over to te side of the couch that Hermione was sleeping on. He sat on the floor by her head and stroked some wet hair from her face, in attempted to calm her down. Her crying slowed and her whimpers became softer as she relaxed at Ron's soothing touch. His hand remained stoking her hair as her eyelids fluttered open, revealing her big brown eyes to Ron. They showed terror at first before they showed relief and comfort because she realized it was Ron.

"Ron?" she asked tearfully.

"Shhh I'm right here," he replied softly, while softly stroking her cheek with his thumb, brushing the tears away.

"I'm scared," she admitted in a small voice.

"Don't be love, I got you and you are safe here," cooed Ron.

"I mean with the war and everything."

"I will protect you and I will not let anyone harm you or Harry," stated Ron in a protective voice.

"What about you? Will you keep yourself safe," asked Hermione.

"I will do my best to stay safe as well," said Ron.

"Promise?" she said in a hopeful voice.

"I promise," he said before leaning over to kiss her forehead sweetly, as if it sealed the promise. "You should get some sleep love, you look awfully tired.'

"Okay, just stay close okay?" she asked.

"Always," he said moving his sleeping bag closer to the couch and taking her small little hand in his and kissing it gently. She then settled under the covers, never letting go of his hand. He then began to draw little circles on the top of her hand with his thumb comfortingly. They stayed like that all night never wanting to let go of each other, ever.
