CHAPTER ONE

Many years had passed since the defeat of Maylo-Myostimon...

Kari was no longer the young child of light she once was, she was almost a full-grown woman in her early twenties, she was a college graduate and a teacher college graduate as well... and she had the most wonderful boyfriend. No, it wasn't TK, all though she did date him back in high school, and everyone thought it would go far, it just didn't work out. They both broke it off and tried going out with other people. After a couple of other boys, Kari decided to try Davis, the boy who had a crush on her for...ever! He even constantly pestered her to go out on a date, or to at least give him one chance, to which she usually turned down thinking he wasn't what she really wanted, but after that one try, Kari began to realize just how sweet and compassionate Davis really could be.

He acted like a complete gentlemen, and he paid close attention when Kari was talking and didn't just smile and nod. He asked her about where she wanted to go, or what other things she liked, not that he didn't already know. Kari had such a good time, they went out again, and then again, and several more dates followed, each more romantic than the last to the point where they shared their first kiss, which Davis truly treasured, and Kari realized just how much she was growing to love him the way he loved her.

They both graduated high school, and got simple jobs as a paper boy, and a grocer's assistant to make money for college. As the years went by, Davis excelled in cooking and business school, and after a long time of hard work and buckling down, he achieved his dream of opening a noodle cart, and his recipes were just to die for. More money came in, and he soon became rich, but he did share his money with poor people and donated to charities and orphan's homes.

He already felt more than comfortable just being able to be with Kari, something money couldn't buy. To him, she was his whole world, his very inspiration, the one whom without he would be quite lost. Then, one night, he decided it was time... time to ask her the question he had been longing to ask her for such a long time.

He picked her up at her apartment. His was only a few doors down making it quite convenient for them both. He was all dressed up nicely, and his smooth hair was slicked down and neatly combed. He knocked at the door, and she answered it. "Hey." she said flirtingly. "Hello beautiful!" he said in a heavenly dazed as he admired her appearance. She wore a beautiful silk pink dress with long sleeves, and a red purse. He chestnut brown hair, which she had allowed to grow long over the years was draping playfully over her shoulders. Her soft makeup and peach-colored lipstick almost made it impossible for him to turn away from her.

Kari giggled, liking it when her boyfriend was stunned by her, but she had to snap him out of it. "Are those for me?" she playfully asked hinting at the flowers he had brought. "What these...? No, they're for you, not for me." he joked. Kari giggled and accepted the flowers. "Davis, you spoil me." Kari said as she walked with him hand-in-hand. "My job is to get you what you want." he said. "If you want to become a preschool teacher, I will help you become a preschool teacher." He went on. "You want me to save the world; I'll save it all right."

Kari stopped so suddenly in her tracks, pulled Davis towards her and kissed him deeply. Davis slowly laid his hand in her brown hair, which now was longer and drifting playfully across Kari's shoulder. When they separated she looked him deep in the eyes "You're cute when you care, but you don't have to go overboard" she said. Davis smiled down at her. "I'll try and tone it down, but this I can't promise." he said. She giggled, and they kissed again.

They went to see a romantic play, followed by a romantic dinner for two and dancing, took a stroll through park, and finally, they rode to the top of the tallest building in town. The view was just breathtaking. The soft roaming hills, and buildings as far as the eye could see, the stars were shining like crystals in the night sky, and the moon was full and bright.

"Oh, Davis, it's so beautiful." said Kari resting her head on Davis' shoulder.

"Y-y-yeah... it sure is." Davis said with a bit of shyness in his voice. Kari noticed that, and that Davis had been acting rather peculiar all night, quieter than usual. His fingers had hardly stopped twiddling, and every now and then she noticed Davis was feeling inside the pocket on his tuxedo as if something special was inside it.

"Davis, are you alright?" she asked. Davis just held her hands together, and looked right into her eyes, "Kari... there's something I want to know." he sked shyly. He paused and drew in a deep breath. "Are you... happy with me?"

Kari almost seemed shocked at that question. "Why do you ask?" she asked.

"I just really want to know." replied Davis.

"Davis, of course I'm happy with you." she answered. "You've changed alot since we first met."

Kari remembered her very first class ever with Davis; it was in Grade-one. Davis and Kari were walked into class by their mothers and both of them feeling rather shy, but when Kari came into the class room she could over-hear Davis saying. "Mommy... is that an Angel?"

From that moment on that was where Davis began being nice to Kari; Offering him half his cookies, stepping in front of her when big kids pushed her around. Kari once even helped Davis when he fell off the Monkey-Bars in the playground.

Kari was also how Davis met Tai, and began idolizing him and wanting to be just like him, which was then that he got his first pair of goggles, and got him interested in soccer. When Davis became a Digi-Destined, he mastered some arts that even Tai himself didn't have in him; always going forward when things seemed hopeless. Whenever there was a task that couldn't be done, Davis did it himself. If it wasn't for him, they all could have been destroyed when Ken was still the Digimon-Emperor.

"Davis... you taught us to believe in our dreams, and never to give up, no matter how hopeless they seemed, and you've been so wonderful to me for as long as I can remember. Davis, I don't think there's anyone else out there who can make me as happy the way you have. I love you, Davis Motomiya."

Davis felt touched. All his life he had been waiting for her to say that, he slowly pulled her towards him and kissed her deeply, and she wrapped her arms around his neck making the kiss even deeper. "Why did you want to know?" she asked when the separated. Davis held both her hands together in his, looked deeply into her eyes and said, "Kari, I love too much to be away from you anymore, and I want to stay by your side more than anything. So I'm asking you this now." He slowly got down on one knee and pulled out a ring box from his pocket. Then he opened the little box, revealing a solid gold ring, with a large diamond on top. Kari gasped softly as tears began to fall from her eyes. "Hikari Yagami Kamiya..." he asked "Will you do me the honor of becoming my wife? Would you, please...?"

Kari's heart was pounding, and her tears were starting to fall. "Oh... Davis..." she peeped "...Yes."

Davis felt like he was glowing as his beaming expression widened, and tears came to his eyes now, and got up and held her hands together. "Thank you, Kari." he cried, "You've made me so happy!"

Kari sniffled and said. "I'm happy too, Davis." as he took the ring from the box, and gently slid it onto Kari's moonlight made the diamond on the ring shine wildly. She threw her arms around his neck, and they kissed as though they never wanted to let go of each other. "Thanks Kari." Davis said in his thoughts. "I promise... I will make you the happiest woman in the world."
