"...besides, I'll bet Mom and Dad are enjoying their 'alone' time," Danny finished with a grin, lounging in the passenger seat of the Specter Speeder.
"Speaking of Mom," Jazz said after a while, "I know this probably falls under the heading of ghost fighting, but does Vlad seriously have a thing for mom?"
"You mean you didn't know?" Danny said incredulously, "He was hitting on her all the way back when we first met him at Dad's college reunion!"
Jazz looked at him skeptically.
"I'm serious!" Danny said, laughing, "I pointed it out to you, and you said that so long as Vlad had working toilets and Mom said no, who cared."
Jazz turned slightly red. "I wasn't really paying attention. I was still annoyed about having to be there."
Danny shook his head, still laughing. "Well, we don't have to worry about it," he said finally, still restraining snickers, "Mom made it pretty clear her opinion on the subject when he- Whoa careful!"
Jazz's hand had jerked so badly on the steering wheel of the Speeder that both siblings had been momentarily thrown sideways. Though she did straighten out her course, she ignored her slip, choosing instead to stare wide-eyed ahead of her and splutter, "He asked her?! How?! When!?"
"Relax," her younger brother shrugged nonchalantly, resettling himself on the seat. "Remember that Mother-Son Science Convention that Mom and I were invited to attend? Turns out the whole thing was a setup to get Mom and I out there so Vlad could try to convince mom and I to stay."
"And?"
"It didn't go over well with Mom, if that's what you're asking."
Jazz shook her head in amazement. "He's nuts..."
"You're telling me," Danny rolled his eyes, "Ever since he found out I'm half-ghost, he's been trying to get me to renounce dad and become his evil apprentice."
Jazz stayed silent for the longest time. "That has got to be the craziest thing I've ever heard."
"Well, he is one seriously crazed-up fruitloop," Danny said with a grin.
Jazz laughed. "He certainly is."
Short and sweet, but I love it.
