Katlina woke with a start to find herself in a dark and gloomy room. It was empty, except for herself and another. She squinted at an attempt to identify the other, but her poor sight failed her. Ugh, why do I feel so crappy? She tried to get up, pushing herself against the wall with her feet and sliding upwards. Pain shot across her body, and she fell back down with a wail. Tears sprang in her eyes with the sinking feeling of helplessness. I am going to die here, with this mysterious figure and not even get to live a life. And that's when it came to her. She remembered nothing. She new words as if she was alive for a while, yet she remembered nothing of her past. If she even had a past at all. What AM I? Katlina wondered, staring down at herself. From what she could make out, she was a hazel-ish color, and had paws and a tail. That must mean I am some sort of an animal, Katlina thought. Suddenly her leg jerked and hit the wall. Pain seared through her. Ouch! The accident made her remember her first attempt at trying to get up, and a rush of adrenaline ran through her blood. I am going to do this, no matter how much it hurts. I am going to get out of this room, and I am going to save myself. She forced herself upward, the same way she had done last time. Agony came like never before, but she forced herself onward. Another glitch made her head jerk. She stumbled towards a door she had just noticed, and grasped the doorknob wheezing. Then she remembered the other, only a few feet from her now. It will be saved, too. She stretched out her paw and grabbed onto the figure's ear, dragging her. She pulled at the door, and it let loose. Falling with the force, she looked up to see shadows looming over her. Run! Katlina thought frantically.
