Prompt: Movie Theater
When he'd brought iAlien/i back with him from Earth he imagined his room, popcorn, and most important Jen climbing into his lap to get away from the scary aliens.
Instead, they'd ended up crowded into McKay's room with Jennifer on the bed with the very pregnant Teyla and him on a blanket on the floor with Sheppard and McKay.
It was not the date he'd planned. There was no cuddling, no stolen kisses, and when Jen jumped in fear instead of ending up on his lap she fell off the bed onto McKay.
And while it was kind of amusing to watch McKay sputter and turn red and try to get away from her as soon as possible, well, it still didn't make up for missing time alone with her.
Finally the movie ended and they all rose. He moved closer to Jennifer, following her as they all began leaving. Sheppard was still inside, arguing with McKay and Teyla bid them goodnight, heading in the opposite direction. He smiled at her, silently thanking her for taking the long way back to her room. He knew she understood his need to be alone with Jennifer.
"So," he said, "Was that as scary as the first time you saw it?"
"Scarier," she said, "Its weird, with all I've seen in the last few months here I shouldn't be scared of a little green screen and fake blood, but I can't help it. Some things just get to you, I guess."
"Yeah, sorry I couldn't, you know, be more…help in there."
She smiled up at him as they stopped at her door, "Were you planning to protect me from the big, bad movie?"
He looked away and felt his face heat, "Maybe."
She leaned up and kissed his cheek, "That's very sweet, but you know I get even more scared after I watch the movie. Nightmares and all that. Maybe you could stay and…protect me?"
He smirked, understanding exactly what she was asking and took her small hand in his big one and let her lead him into her room.
Maybe this date hadn't started the way he wanted, but it was certainly ending that way.
