"Can't sleep?" Ray asked, interrupting her musing. He sat beside her, the grass staining his pants. Emma didn't acknowledge him, she kept her eyes on the orphanage. Her home. Or at least a shell of it.

Ray didn't say anything else to her and that's fine. Emma needed the silent... Or did she? She never liked the silent, too used to the rowdiness of the orphanage. From the children laughing to the clanking of plates. The orphanage never been truly quiet. Beside, she's Emma. Silent suited Ray or Norman more.

Ah, Norman.

Emma tighten her grip on the hem of her skirt. Norman that wasn't here with her. Norman that gone for good. Norman that.. that...

Norman that wanted all of them to escape.

Norman that let himself to be taken away, so his family would be safe. Because just like her, he loved his family and willing to do anything for them.

"We will escape right?" Somehow, despite the planning and preparation, a piece of doubt that she buried deep, deep inside her came out.

"Of course." Ray answered. His answer was calm and sure, nothing like the quiver on her earlier question.

His words were simple, and yet somehow it manage to anchor her. With that, the resolution that always been inside her began to flare again, filling up her entire body.

Because soon, they'll be safe. No more sacrifices. No more losses. Her family wouldn't need to lose their life anymore. Not to Mama. Not to the demons.

Because she'll be damned if she let any of them touch her family again.
