What Once Was
Disclaimer:
Ranma 1/2 doesn't belong to me--- Don't sue me please, I only make a couple dollars every 10 years anyway
This is my first fan fic... It popped up in my head a night or two ago, but it
sounded better when I was thinking about it...Alas... Anyways... On to the very short fic
The skies were engulfed by the rage of night.
Everything was pitch black except for the few stars
that burned through the night's blanket, shining as
if the sun had not left. The air was calm, and the
only sound to be heard was the sound of his light
breathing.
He lay, once again, on the roof, staring at
the emptiness above him. He sighed. His hands tucked
behind the head which rest upon it. The day had gone
without event. No surprise fiancee, debt collectors,
or enemies arisen from the past, just the simple
difficulties of the day. He lay there for no particular
reason. Perhaps it was just to be there, as if it
were a typical day. Or perhaps it was to bathe in the
darkness of the night. Or perhaps it was in hopes of
catching a whiff of the once intoxicating room below
him. But that was not it. He sat there because he
needed to.
Lite foot steps began to make it's way towards
him.
"Ranma?" said a soft voice. She moved close to
him and sat on her knees facing him. She pushed the hair
blown by the wind behind her ear.
She whispered again. "Ranma?" He turned to lay
on his side.
"Ranma?" She slowly moved her hands towards his
hand which lay still in front of him. Her two small hands
delicately clasped onto his. She starred at him. Her
innocent brown eyes played across his face, noting each
characteristic. The way his nose shaped, the way his lips
were slightly opened, the way his eye's silently cried for
something.
"Akane?" His voice was meek and that of one who has
learned from experience. He turned and laid on his back again.
"Akane..." He shut his eyes. Akane. She smiled at him.
He remembered that. Her giggle, her eyes, her strength, her
anger. Her aura of mixed emotion which would start off as one
emotion, only to be tangled up and have another emotion replace
it. She was a child. She took enjoyment in such little things.
Her happiness made her beautiful. And then, there were times
when something would steal it away from her. Her bouncy eyes
would become sorrowful allowing tears to freely flow from her
fountain of life. She would become seclusive and alone. Alone.
He opened his eyes and look around him to find that he
too was swallowed by the darkness. As much as he didn't want to
remember it, that's all he could do. Remember it. For that was
all he had left. He faced the upward towards one shining star.
He was alone. Alone with only his memories. The memories that
followed him, taunted him, and made his smile. But that was all
they were. Memories. He sat on the roof staring into space with
his memories. His memories of that girl.
