"Is she okay?" Charlie asked, worry clear in his voice as he came barging out of the fireplace. Gabrielle looked up from her work, and gave her husband a soft smile.
"She is fine," she answered.
"Are you sure? Because I've done some research, and you won't believe the stories. They're horrifying. God, I'm so glad I wasn't aware of this when I was younger because-"
Gabrielle gave a short bark of laughter as she went to her husband. "Darling, Sophie will be fine. It's just the chicken pox. Ask your mother about it. She'll tell you there is nothing to worry about."
"But what if-?"
Gabrielle cut her husband off with a kiss. "Don't worry," she said, pulling back. "The only thing Sophie has had a problem with all day is that Daddy wasn't home to read her a story."
Charlie grinned. "Well then, I'm afraid I have to leave you. A princess needs me."
Gabrielle grinned back. "Tell her the Queen says hello."
"I will," Charlie said with a laugh as he went to his daughter. Gabrielle smiled as she heard Sophie's excited squeal upon seeing him.
Sometimes, she had no idea how she got this lucky.
