History of Magic: Artemisia Luftkin

Task: Since Artemisia was the first female Minister for Magic, I would like you to write for one of the following firsts: First Friend

Extra Prompt: Luna Lovegood

Word Count: 550 words

Luna Lovegood watched what went down right in front of her with wide eyes. She couldn't believe that someone had just stood up for her, let alone that it was three people who just stood up for her. Ever since she had started Hogwarts she had been bullied and nobody in her own House did anything to stop it. In fact, every single person in Ravenclaw made sure to turn the other way so that they could pretend they didn't know what was going on. "Why did you do that?"

Harry Potter looked at Luna with a sad smile on his face. He could tell that the young girl was feeling lonely and like nobody cared about her. He was about to make it clear to her that, that was not the case at all. He knew what it was like to have no friends and there was no way in hell he was going to allow this slip of a girl to get picked on like she obviously was. "I did that because nobody deserves to be treated the way that they were treating you. They will get what they have coming to them and it will be even worse than what I said or did to them. Are you alright, Miss Lovegood?"

Luna's eyes widened even further. "How did you know my name?"

Harry chuckled lightly as he gestured to Neville. "Neville here knows who you are. Besides I heard the older girl call you Loony Lovegood. I'm going to take a guess that your first name is not Loony so what is it?"

Luna blushed even as she smiled slightly. "I'm Luna Lovegood. I know who you three are. Thank you for what you did for me."

Harry shook his head. "It wasn't a problem at all, Luna. I do believe by now Professor Flitwick will know what has happened and will be here shortly. If you ever need anything you come to Neville, Hermione, or me and we will do whatever we can to help you."

"Why would you do that for me? I'm nobody special, Harry Potter." Luna blurted.

Harry's eyes flashed. "You are somebody special, Luna, and of course I would do that for you. You are now a friend of mine, Luna, so I will do whatever I have to, to make sure that you are happy and safe."

Luna's eyes filled with tears. "I've never really had a friend before."

Harry pulled Luna into his arms and kissed her on the head. "Well no you have me and two others. Never let anyone make you think that you're not worth it, Luna, because you are worth everything and anything. You never have to go through this on your own ever again. I can and will make sure that everyone in Ravenclaw understands that you are off limits. Now, Miss Luna, dry those tears because a pretty girl like you shouldn't be crying."

Luna blushed even harder. She threw her arms around Harry's neck and hugged him hard. She couldn't believe that she had her first friend. She knew that she would never be bullied again and that from now on she would be safe. She was very happy with who her first and even second and third friends turned out to be.
