Sora was happy (depressed). He was always happy (downright miserable). Everybody (and nobody) knew this. It was the norm, an accepted part of each day, if there ever came a time when Sora was without his usual cheerful grin (after years of lying, the deceptive expression was almost second nature so that wasn't very likely but if it did happen) the world must surely be coming to a close. That's what the (ignorant, idiotic, blind) people (fools) on the island believed.
And they were (oh so very) right. Or, partially (completely wrong) at least.
Because the day (stuck-up, arrogant) Riku opened the (fucking stupid move) door to darkness was the day after Sora (finally) frowned and snapped at (red-haired) Kairi-just the tiniest bit (in a fifteen minute long rant).
But not two seconds (hours) after, he was apologizing (don't see why, she started it) with that sheepish grin she could never resist (and he knew it because it was the only way to get her to shut up with her crying and do something productive-like finishing their raft so he could get away from this place). And he was back to (hiding his anguish) being happy again. Not enough apparently (whether it was karma or fate he didn't know but both were bitches) because he'd just lost his two best (pretend) friends.
He met new companions (they wouldn't leave him alone but they also had stuff he could use so the situation balanced out). He gained a clear goal (not what he told others, not what he had written about for his school essay either) and the extraordinary means to carry it out (he'd never asked for this damn curse).
He knew Riku was alive somewhere (the guy was like a cockroach) and he was sure Kairi (blood red) was fine too. He was happy (still miserable) enough.
He spread hope everywhere he went (like a virus everyone went out of their way to catch, the idiots) in all the worlds he visited. And just like on the islands, (dots in the ocean that they were) people started associating him with reassuring smiles or goofy grins of triumph (how are they fooled? Anyone can see the truth in his eyes). If he failed at first, (he'd scream and pout and cry) things would be made better as soon as Donald said something funny or sarcastic and Goofy took him seriously. And then they'd move on (ignoring the incident and shelving it away along with the rest). Sora kept smiling through it all (the despair gnawing at his heart was more effective than any heartless could be).
They saw (stupid, foolish) Riku again, and found Kairi (blood red hair). Sora couldn't believe Riku was seriously acting like that (it had taken long enough, he'd started to think it'd never happen) but he would (never completely) come back. Riku always (failed to come) came back. The (least) important thing was that everyone was safe right? (Wrong.)
That's what Sora told (and told and told and told) himself when he'd wake from the (childish) nightmares about never seeing his friends (tools...) again and when he was shaking from tears (hysterical laughter) so hard the blanket wouldn't even remain on his shoulders. And (grin on his face,) he was (tears running down his cheeks,) still (irrevocably) so damn happy.
