A/N: Inspired by an episode, the name of which I never knew. Goren tells someone who's trying to play him off of Eames that they have complimentary skills. Ew, this woman is creepy, though. Oh well. It's not long or deep, but I hope you enjoy it and review, please.

Complimentary Skills

"I know all of you have problems with your partners. Some of you probably think you have the most unbearable partner in the history of the New York Police Department." She grinned. "You've obviously never met my partner." The lack of laughter made her sigh inwardly. "I know you don't think there's anything you can do, but I'm here to tell you differently."

"No offense, ma'am, but I doubt it."

She smiled. "What, you think because I'm young enough to be some of your daughters that I can't know what I'm doing?"

The cop grimaced. "Well, frankly, yes."

"Let me toss out a name and see if you recognize it. Robert Goren. 'Crazy Bobby Goren,' I think he's been called."

There was a murmur of acknowledgment.

"Partners complained about his insanity, his edginess, his moodiness, his inability to connect with the real world. They thought he was going to snap and kill someone, quite frankly."

"Yeah, he was kind of a nut job."

She raised an eyebrow. "I'm going to say this once, so listen up. He was not crazy, only different. When he was given a partner whose skills complimented his, who had a foot in both his world and ours, he became the best detective the Major Case squad has ever had. My father is not insane, nor is he ever going to crack under the pressure of his own genius, thanks to my mother, who understood his mind and taught the rest of the world to accept him for what he is: an intelligent man whose brain works in mysterious ways." Sara Goren smiled widely at the open mouths in front of her. "My parents have been married for twenty-two years next month, and they were partners for six years before that. If they could get along, so can you. Any questions, or should I start the workshop now?"
