After Castiel had clambered into the pool, the sky had already darkened. The cool water was now glittering with silver flecks of the glow of the sunset, just how it always was in the evening. Castiel's messy hair was stroked by the water; as he combed through it with his fingers droplets of water cascaded down his back, and trickled down as it finally touched the water, creating small circular ripples. His upper body was bathed in the faded golden light, emitting a luminescent radiance. Only now had Dean felt small next to the angel; he just seemed so godly even when he wasn't trying. Dean turned his face away, afraid of letting Cas see him like this.
"Dean, this is very relaxing. But I have something to tell you."
Dean jolted back to reality, making small waves as he swung around in surprise.
"I have fallen in love… Or at least that's what I think. Every time I get close to them I want to show my affection, but I don't know how."
Dean suddenly felt dispirited; he tried to stare at the dark sky that was now streaked with a rainbow of vivid colors. Thoughts flooded his mind like a wave; it was all too sudden, just like the way Castiel came into his life, and now, he would never get a chance to be with him.
"Maybe just try to tell them directly, tell them that you want to be more than friends; don't get embarrassed, don't run away. If you really want to get close start off comfy and later on explain as you go. Its more than just "lets bone", ya know."
Castiel's eyes scintillated with flecks of gray, as if he was staring into Dean's soul.
"Mind if I practice?"
"Sure."
Dean couldn't sadden himself anymore than he was at that moment.
"Dean, I know this might seem weird, but I really like you. Your eyes, your hair, your smell; its just so enticing. I understand if you don't have the same feelings for me, I know it's hard. I just wish we could be together…"
Castiel's voice suddenly faded off, and instead of turning away all flustered and embarrassed, he pulled Dean into the frigid water and kissed him as small bubbles trailed from his mouth. Dean closed his eyes, wanting this moment to last forever. As dark silhouettes flickered and wavered in his mind, all he could feel was the angel's soft lips pressing against his.
When they were finally out of breath they rose up to the surface of the shimmering water, heaving and wheezing. The fresh air smelt like pine needles, and everything had fallen into place; the faraway wisps of cloud, the blinking stars, the wood that had fallen asleep and Dean and Castiel, who could only look vacantly at each other. No words were needed.
After getting out and dried, they laid on Dean's bed, appreciating the subtle sunset as it bleached into the night sky.
