The city burned as the massive robots slowly marched through, destroying anything and everything that dared to stand in their way. Streets and buildings lay in ruins from the destruction wrought upon the once lively city. The citizens had long ago been evacuated, though not all of them made it out. All that remained now was a burning wasteland.

IN THE DARKEST OF TIMES…

There was no hope. The now-unnamed city was left for dead, while everyone hid themselves away. The robots looked around, searching for any signs of life...or more importantly, resistance.

THE WORLD NEEDS A HERO.

One lone figure stood, watching the robots' march of destruction with a clenched fist. His usual trademark grin was replaced with a desperate, unyielding scowl. And yet, in spite of all the destruction and darkness that swallowed the city, his bright blue fur and emerald eyes still shone.

How had it come to this? After all he had gone through, all the times he saved the world...how could it end like this? He'd faced down god-like beings, demented rogue robots, and even a team of six monsters bent on destroying everything he loved! Yet now here he was, his greatest enemy standing victorious over the ravaged city. Could anyone stop him?

Yes. He could.

Without another thought, Sonic the Hedgehog ran forward and jumped into the air, landing solidly on his feet. He looked up just in time to see some large debris get hurled at him. He dodged this and ran forward, moving from side to side and sliding to avoid several obstacles. Then he jumped over some more debris, glancing back a moment. When he looked forward again, however, he saw a massive piece of what was once the city coming straight at him. There'd be no escape from this one.

BUT EVEN HEROES NEED HELP.

Before the debris could strike, a jet of fire and lightning erupted from the side and struck the piece of debris, igniting it. A split second later, a blue blur slashed through it, destroying it and simultaneously putting out the fire. A moment later, the blur slowed enough to reveal its identity. It was a Greninja. But this wasn't just any Greninja, as its slightly different form indicated.

Sonic immediately recognized the Greninja, and turned to his right to see a familiar face grinning at him and giving him a thumbs-up. Ash Ketchum, Pokemon Master, rode on his Charizard, with Pikachu on his shoulder as usual. For the first time in a while – he no longer knew whether it was days, weeks, or even hours since – Sonic returned the smile and thumbs-up. Then he landed, and Greninja landed beside him. Together, they ran forward, with Ash, Pikachu and Charizard not far behind. The robots glared at them, and fired.

JOIN THE RESISTANCE.

Yes, Satoshi-Greninja, I did hear.

Wow, this is the shortest thing I've ever written. Not that I'm disappointed, though. There's only so much you can do with a short trailer. Besides, if anything, this is just one way for me to try and beat this frequent case of writer's block that slows progress on my current project.

As for the subject at hand...really? Classic Sonic AGAIN?! Come on...just because 2D Sonic games have been more successful doesn't mean to you have to keep shoving Classic Sonic into every Modern Sonic game. You already have a classic-style 2D Sonic game coming, YOU DON'T NEED TO STUFF 2D SONIC INTO A 3D SONIC GAME!

But then, what do I know? It's just a trailer. There's only so much you can glean from it.
