Sirius Black, SOldier of Justic Disclaimer: As always, I don't own the characters, situations or places of the Harry Potter universe, they belong to J. K. Rowling (to whom we are indebted), Warner Brothers, Scholastic Books and Bloomsbury Publishing Plc.

Summary: The first of a series of poems that are my interpretations of the Harry Potter characters.

Author's Note: I was told in a review to my only other posted poem, "Betrayal", that I should write more poetry. Well, here's my attempt. This was inspired by reading and examining the poetry of Ted Hughes. Please give me your opinion - this is the first poem of this sort I have written.

Email me if you want to discuss the poem or if you can't grasp the meaning. Ted Hughes seems to have made me metaphorical.

No surprise to those who know me, I decided to do Sirius first! ;-). Enjoy.

Sirius Black : Soldier of Justice

The boy sits alone,
A solitary moment in a life of joy.
The terror that rules over those around him
Has left him untouched.

The man stands, smiling.
An island of hope in a time of despair.
The flood of darkness looms always,
But he and his friends fight the waves.

The beach needs protecting,
A vicious tide would destroy it,
The brave and the free of the war stand united,
To push back the brunt of the storm.

The man crouches, screaming.
The troops are victorious, their battle is done.
His companions in the fight are celebrating,
But here he is alone.

The dog is watching.
Chased every day by the spectre of darkness,
The torment of a life accused, mistrusted.
His mission to finish, his life to redeem.
He waits.
