Their Christmas Tree

At the Burrow there was a tall Christmas tree outside, its branches heavy, with ornaments. These were not the usual ornaments, though. Every ornament had a name. Every name was written in the colors of his or her house.

James in red and Potter in gold.

Nympadora in yellow and Tonks-Lupin in blue.

Every one who died to stop Voldemort had a ornament. Every single one. It was a lot of ornaments, but still, every year, people who had lost loved ones in the wars came hung an ornament for those they had lost. Every year. Every Year. It was a tradition. It was like an unbreakable vow.

Severus in silver and Snape in green.

Cedric in blue and Diggory in yellow.

Amazingly, the muggles never saw it. Even though it shown brighter than all the lights in the area. It was a symbol of hope, love and joy. Hope, Love, Joy. Powerful, aren't they? They say love conquers all. It really does. After, Love defeated Voldemort. Joy defeats dementors. And Hope? It appears when least likely, it leads the way home, it lights the torch. But still, the most powerful is Love. The one magic Voldemort will never understand.

Sirius in red and Black in gold.

Regulus in green and Black in silver.

Their tree is still there every year even after the elder Weasley brothers pass away. Even after Harry, Hermione, and Ron pass away. Every year.. Every Year.

Lily in gold and Evans-Potter in red.

Remus in red and Lupin in gold.

And life moves on. Soon they leave the ornaments up all year. Less and less people come. Soon the tree is moved to the graveyard in Godric's Hollow. And still every year they come. Every year. Every Year.

Fred Weasley in red and gold.

Ravenclaws in purple.

Gryffindors (oh so many) in red and gold.

Hufflepuffs in blue and yellow.

Slytherins (so so few. 2 or 3) in silver and green.

And Dobby the free elf? Red and gold, for if had been a wizard, he would have been a Gryffindor.

AN 2: What is the second for Ravenclaw? Did I get the Hufflepuff house colors right? Review please! I need to know what you think! Finally, I typed a full paged one-shot! yay!
