Story Notes-This is just a "what if?" alternate idea of what happened before
Aeryn, Crais and Rygel reunited with the crew on Moya ;)
Spoilers?: Well, if you haven't seen "Infinite Possibilities, pt2' or 'The Choice'
or even 'Fractures' then yeah, you won't know what's going on, and possibly will
be spoiled-not that this story mentions any particular plot-points, it still
could spoil ya. ;-) Okay, shutting up now! :-D
EDIT NOTE-(9-12-14):So there were a LOT of typos in this ficlet, and since it was still out there on the etherweb, I knew it couldn't stay unfixed. I've fixed the typos, though if there's anything else wrong with this story, I'd appreciate feed back to let me know. :)
Aeryn slowly packed Crichton's things, her mind elsewhere, her actions automatic, her emotions completely hidden to anyone who might be looking. She didn't lookup when Crais approached her.
"Aeryn...we're nearly to the rendezvous point withMoya. " he said. She merely nodded her head, her face a careful blank. When hedidn't leave, she turned to look at him, one eyebrow raised.
"Was there something else, Crais?" she asked.
"Well-I..that is, I just wanted to say how sorry I was for your loss." he said, placing a hand on her shoulder briefly.
"Yes, yes, you've said that before, but thank you again. I'm all right, you needn't worry about me. "
He hesitated then said, "Well.. if you need to talk..."
"Thank you Crais, but I'm just fine. I don't need to talk. " she said, turning back to packing, dismissing him.
Crais shook his head, and then finally left. She continued her packing, as a tiny tear traced its way down her cheek. She impatiently wiped it away, and quickly shut down the memory of John again. But her hand trembled slightly as the last thing she put in his bag was his gun.
"You're gone, so stay out of my mind..." she whispered. Done with packing his things, she quickly packed her own. Then she gathered both bags up and headed to the control room.
"Aeryn, if you're ready, let's get the transport pod prepped and ready to launch." Crais said.
She nodded, and followed him and Rygel towards Talyn's landing bay. Getting the pod ready was the sort of mindless, soothing activity that Aeryn enjoyed, working with something she could understand.
"I was a fool..." she muttered to herself.
"What was that, Aeryn?" Rygel asked.
"Nothing, Rygel." she said, doing last minute checks of the systems.
Rygel looked over at Crais, but Crais just shrugged. What would be, would be, he thought, as he watched Aeryn work. Finally, the pod was ready to go, just as Talyn reported sighting Moya. They strapped themselves in, and Aeryn launched the pod. Effortlessly she flew the pod the short distance to Moya, and gently landed the pod in Moya's landing bay. Aeryn unbuckled herself, and stood up, and stared at Crais for a moment.
"Crais"
"Yes, Aeryn?"
She held out the bag to him. "Would you give this to him? I would rather not," she said, her voice devoid of emotion.
He nodded, and took it from her. She got behind him and Rygel, waiting for them to disembark. Rygel and Crais exited. Then it was her turn; she steeled herself and walked out into the once welcome light of Moya...
