Note: Mai-Hime is an anime that was done by Sunrise and is based on a manga of the same name.

Natsuki Kuga shivered in her bed while having a bad dream. Her alarm started beeping. She was usually annoyed by her alarm, but this time she was thankful for it.

Natsuki went to the living room and started having breakfast. She noticed that all of the milk was gone so she asked, "Where did the milk go?"

Natsuki's dad answered, "I stopped buying it."

Natsuki asked, "Why?"

Natsuki's dad answered, "Because it cost too much money."

Natsuki asked, "Then how come you spent over five hundred dollars on golf clubs?"

Natsuki's dad answered, "No comment."

Natsuki's mom walked by and asked, "How did you sleep?"

Natsuki answered, "Not the best."

Natsuki's mom asked, "What do you mean?"

Natsuki tried to hide the anxiety she had been feeling recently while saying, "Don't worry about it." She ran to her room.

Natsuki's mom said, "I'm worried about her."

Natsuki's dad replied, "I'm worried that she spends too much money."

Natsuki sat on her bed and called Shizuru Fujino, her girlfriend. Natsuki said, "Hi Shizuru."

Shizuru replied, "Hi honey. How are you?"

Natsuki tried to not sound nervous while saying, "Um, okay."

Shizuru knew Natsuki really well and she could tell that something was going on. She asked, "What's going on?"

Natsuki said, "I need to ask you something, but it might not make much sense."

Shizuru replied, "Feel free to ask away. I don't mind weird questions at all."

Natsuki asked, "Are you mad at me?"

Shizuru answered, "Of course not. You make me happier than anything else in the world. No offense sweetheart, but why would you even ask something like that?"

Natsuki said, "Don't worry about it."

Shizuru replied, "I want to help you sweetheart. Please be honest with your emotions so I can help you."

Natsuki said, "There's nothing going on. I don't feel like talking right now. I should get going. I love you."

Shizuru replied, "I love you too, but please tell me what you're afraid of."

Natsuki had a tear coming down her face while saying, "I can't do that." Natsuki hanged up the phone and started crying on her bed.

A half hour later Natsuki's mom was knocking on Natsuki's door. Natsuki looked at all the tissues that she used for her tears and decided to hide them under her blanket.

Natsuki's mom walked in and asked, "Are you okay?"

Natsuki pretended to be in a better mood to keep her mom from finding out the truth. She had a fake smile on her face while saying, "I'm okay."

Natsuki's mom said, "You seemed pretty mopey earlier. I was worried that you had a bad dream."

Natsuki replied, "I'm just not good at waking up with a positive attitude."

Natsuki's mom smiled and said, "I've noticed that."

Natsuki replied, "Hey."

Natsuki's mom responded, "No offense, but you were pretty grumpy until you started dating Shizuru. She seems to fill up your life with sunshine."

Natsuki blushed and said, "You might be right."

Natsuki's dad walked into the room and said, "I need to talk to Natsuki alone."

Natsuki's mom was hoping that the dad could give their daughter helpful advice so she said, "Okay." The mom walked to the living room.

Natsuki's dad patted Natsuki on the head and said, "I can tell that you've been sad recently."

Natsuki asked, "Really?"

Natsuki's dad answered, "I'm a smart guy." Natsuki didn't agree, but she was nice enough to not comment on that.

Natsuki's dad said, "I think that the reason you've been feeling scared is because you're afraid I'll hate you for wasting so much money. I want you to know that even though you spend more money than I want you to I still care about you."

Natsuki said, "Um, thanks."

Natsuki's dad smiled and replied, "You're welcome. I'm glad that I got a chance to help you. I'm going to go buy some more golf clubs."

A few hours later Shizuru came to Natsuki's house. She knocked on the door. Natsuki's mom opened it. Shizuru asked, "Is Natsuki here?"

Natsuki's mom answered, "Yes."

Shizuru said, "I'm sorry for coming unannounced, but I'm worried about Natsuki."

Natsuki's mom replied, "Don't worry about it. You're always welcome here."

Shizuru responded, "Thank you."

Shizuru gently opened Natsuki's bedroom door. Natsuki was sleeping and was having another nightmare. Shizuru said, "Please wake up."

Natsuki got up and hugged Shizuru. She asked, "Is this a dream?"

Shizuru answered, "It's reality."

Natsuki felt relieved while saying, "Thank goodness."

Shizuru asked, "What were you dreaming about?"

Natsuki sighed and said, "You may change your feelings about me after hearing the truth."

Shizuru replied, "Don't talk such nonsense. Please just tell me about your recent dreams."

Natsuki said, "I was worried that you'd meet other people who are more important and beautiful than me. I'm worried that someday you'll realize that you're too good for me and dump me for somebody as amazing as you."

Shizuru asked, "You were actually dreaming about that?"

Natsuki answered, "Indeed I was. You've been so important and lovely to me that I would feel lost and sad without you."

Shizuru wiped the tears off of Natsuki's face and hugged her. Shizuru said, "There's no reason to ever worry about that."

Natsuki replied, "But you're so much nicer and prettier than I am."

Shizuru put her arm around Natsuki's shoulder and said, "I need to remind you of how we got together."

Natsuki replied, "Okay."

Shizuru said, "We quickly became friends after meeting at school. I was the one who had a crush on you. You didn't feel the same way, until half a year ago. I was the one who wanted us to get together. I've never wanted anything so badly. I wouldn't dump you unless you stopped liking me."

Natsuki lightly smiled and replied, "I'll never do that."

Shizuru responded, "Then there's nothing for either of us to worry about."

Natsuki felt guilty while saying, "I'm sorry for my lack of trust in you."

Shizuru replied, "Lets forget about fear and focus on the loveliness of life."

Natsuki blushed while saying, "You're the the most lovely thing in my life."

Shizuru replied, "I feel the same way about you." Natsuki and Shizuru kissed.

Natsuki said, "Life is scary, but it's also lovely. I'm glad that you always show me the more optimistic side of life."

Shizuru replied, "You bright up my life too."

Natsuki said, "Yeah right. It's probably a nightmare to deal with all of my problems."

Shizuru replied, "Being with you has been the best time of my life."

Natsuki hugged Shizuru. She lacked confidence on a lot of things, but she was confident that Shizuru loved her more than anybody else and that she felt the same way.

Natsuki's dad opened the door and said, "I got some new golf clubs. They didn't cost that much so don't worry."

Natsuki smiled and replied, "I'm done with worrying about stuff for a while."

Natsuki's dad responded, "I'm glad that my speech helped you so much." Natsuki rolled her eyes.

Natsuki and Shizuru held hands. Natsuki said, "Thank you for showing me how wonderful life can be."

Shizuru replied, "Thank you for showing me the same thing. Don't worry anymore, because I plan on being with you forever."

Natsuki smiled and said, "Then I plan on being happy forever." Natsuki and Shizuru smiled while feeling excited about the worry-free life of happiness they planned on having together.
