A/N: *giggles* I wrote this while waiting for a meeting to end.... It's okay, but not my fave!

No, Thank You

Monica, Tess, and Andrew stood silently in a small, chic coffee bar in the heart of Los Angeles.
Monica's fists were clenched, and she was breathing hard. She wore a determined look upon
her unusually pale face. Andrew's face was solemn, but in his eyes you could see the laughter he
was trying desperately to hold back. Tess looked greatly amused, and chuckled softly to
herself.

"You don't have to do it, you know." Tess's words barely concealed her laughter.

Monica glared at her supervisor, then nodded with resolve. "Yes, I do." Her voice was
charming with a pretty Irish brogue. "I need to prove to myself that I can do it."

Andrew broke in with a question. "But what if you can't?"

The cafe's waiter, who held a large coffeepot in his hand, interrupted their short conversation.
"Um, excuse me. Would any of you like some coffee?"

Both Tess and Andrew shook their heads. The waiter transferred his gaze to Monica. She
gulped. "Uh - uh - " she stuttered. She turned to Tess, who gave her an encouraging smile.
Andrew reached out and put a reassuring hand on her shoulder, as if to say, no matter what
happens, we'll be here for you. Monica stood up straighter, and raised her chin. "No, thank
you." She spoke the words, hardly faltering.

The waiter shrugged, and moseyed off in the general direction of the kitchen. "I did it!" Monica's
tone was exuberant, and not without pride.

"Yeah, you did it, Angel Girl." Tess tried hard not to laugh, but was unsuccessful. She snuck a
glance at the angel of death, and he let out a chuckle.

Monica shot them a Look, and stalked out of the door. Tess and Andrew immediately sobered,
but soon they began to laugh again, their tones ringing throughout all of heaven and earth.
