She moved like she was dancing, but it wasn't like any kind of dancing he knew. While the other women danced in soft curves and arches and flowing gracefulness, she was sharp angles and edges and somehow beautifully detached. A calm, practiced motion of deadly precision, each movement carefully calculated. A hawk. She was a creature of the air, swooping and diving and soaring, always holding her head above everyone else, all-seeing. Proud, but humble. She saw his mistakes and his triumphs and everything in between, but was always there at his right hand to steer him along his path in a way that only she could.
She was fire, she was rain, she was light, she was darkness, she was happiness, she was pain… she was everything. She kept him grounded and made him dizzy from an elated vertigo. She let him move on from his past, yet at the same time was a constant reminder of it. His best friend from his childhood and the woman he barely knew, but at the same time the one he knew so well. She lit something inside him, and blew it out at the same time.
He knew all this. He knew it too well. But it wasn't these things that made up Riza Hawkeye. It was the things that had nothing to do with him. It was her spirit. It was the way she would smile at strangers. It was her kindness to the Elric brothers. It was the way she loved people and loved life in a way he had never seen anyone else in the military do so. It was the hard mask she wore to protect the burden she carried. It was the interior - sweeter than any candy he had ever tasted. It was the way she moved: stiff and unyielding, but somehow pliable - much like her nature - the way the military taught her how to move.
She moved like she was dancing, and he supposed he had fallen in love with it.
A/N: I really like this one? Drabbles are like, my thing. Heheh. But seriously, Royai is my otp. I ship them so bad it hurts.
R&R, folks! Tell me if I made any mistakes or how I can improve!
