It was raining again.
He had never liked the rain. Always, always, when he found it raining, the teen would hide - in the tent, in the cave, or in whatever they were currently taking shelter in, separated and isolated from the rest of the world while his brothers would watch over him.
He hated the rain. Droplets of water that fell from the sky served only to remind him of crying - he dreaded tears. He thought them weak, thought the action itself was done only by the foolish and the undeserving.
And yet, it was always during the rain that he found her voice clearest. She had a reason which he did not understand - the Planet was weeping, she had told him, explaining, and the falling tears always weakened the Planet's hold on her. Even if he didn't know what she meant, or what the Planet was doing to her, he was glad to hear her, and would have followed her call if only it… If it wasn't raining.
Slowly, he felt someone shaking him awake gently. Opening his eyes, the spirit found arms of his older brother holding onto him. "Look," the other whispered and green feline eyes turned towards the pale blue sky, where the rain was still falling, but it was definitely lighter now.
It would always rain again. But Kadaj knew that rain would always have to end someday, and when it did, he looked forward to seeing the rainbow after the rain.

Footnotes: This simple drabble began when the rain started to fall and I wrote the beginning words - "It was raining again." inside my notebook, and my Kadaj-muse would not give in until I wrote about him. So here it is - a story about Kadaj.
