It has come time for Ruthie to tell Martin. But not before a little chat with her father.
Ruthie, is nervous but tries to hide it behind her snarkiness. " I am off to tell Martin, that he knocked me up"
"You might now want to say it quite like that" Eric suggests.
" I will say it however I want to say it"
" Do you need me to come with you?"
" If I am old enough to have intercourse with Martin, I think I am old enough to tell him her is the father of my , soon to be born, child…without you holding my hand"
"Okay, you can handle this yourself"
"Yes, I am a grown up young woman"
"I guess I must not have gotten the memo"
"Yeah well, let me e the one to tell you then"
"Ruthie, do you remember when you told me that you were not going to grow up to be like your siblings? That you would always try to be rational? What happened?"
"Living in this house is what happened"
"What do you mean?"
" Dad, you are a minister, your kids are supposed to be perfect. I am sorry that the seven of us, well five of us, thus far, are not"
"No one is perfect. Except for me of course"
"Yes, Dad, you are perfect. You always know what to say, you never get too irrational, you keep mom in place, and you always know how to stop people from doing stupid things. Well, except for your own children"
" I guess you are right. How did I end up with kids who always want to defy me?"
"It is the minister thing"
"Yes, that must be it"
Eric takes his eyes off the picture on the wall he has been staring at and turns to his youngest daughter " Good Luck with Martin"
"Thanks Dad, I love you"
"I love you too, sweetheart"
Another nice little moment between the Minister father and his overly dramatic and attention hogging daughter.
