Hi Narnia fans! This is my first fanfiction on how Eustace changed after VoDT. Love the movie so much that I decided to create this! Quotes and letter are in italics. I do not own any of the characters or Narnia itself. I also do not own any of the quotes! Please comment and review what you think I should change or anything because criticism is welcome! Enjoy!
Lucy's POV
"Eustace! Eustace! What are you doing up there? Jill Pole's dropped in for a visit!" Aunt Alberta yelled up the stairs to my room. I clearly saw Eustace smile (for the first time) as he hung the picture of the Dawn Treader back on the wall. After Eustace went out, I took one more look at the painting before closing the door as the ship rolled away, holding back the tears. I finally closed the door and went to see how Eustace would react to Jill and Aunt Alberta.
Everybody noticed that Eustace changed including Aunt Alberta, which can definitely not be a good thing. She will probably not be pleased. (I told Edmund and Eustace later, and we had a good laugh about it.)
"Hullo Pole! How are you?" Eustace asked politely. Jill and Aunt Alberta were surprised that Eustace actually spoke something nicely. When we were out of earshot, we laughed out loud at the look on Aunt Alberta and Uncle Harold's faces. I was proud of Eustace for his accomplishment and secretly thanked Aslan for bringing us to Narnia, even though I was very sad we could not go back "until the end of time."
Several months later…
"Edmund, it is another letter from Susan and Peter!" I exclaimed. We sent her a letter a day after our adventure in Narnia and told her about being with Aunt, Uncle, and Eustace and his change of character. Her letter was as follows:
Dear Edmund and Lucy,
I am very glad to hear that you are all well. I cannot wait to see the changed Eustace! Fancy you still play those childish Narnian games. The British officer fancies me a lot, and I must say, I fancy him, too. Peter says hello as well as Mother and Father. Send Aunt Alberta, Uncle Harold, and Eustace my love.
Love,
Susan
I looked at that sentence, "Fancy you still play those childish Narnian games," and it hurt to see that Susan changed and was not a friend of Narnia anymore. Edmund, Eustace, and I hoped that Peter would explain to Susan that Narnia was real.
Several weeks later…
Finally, after we could not stand Aunt Alberta anymore, Peter, Susan, Mother, and Father came back from America and came to pick us up. Eustace was allowed to come with us for the remainder of the year after he begged Aunt Alberta for a week.
Mother and Father were surprised and glad at how much Eustace had changed. Susan, well, since she does not believe in Narnia anymore, she was only a little glad about the change in him. However, when we would talk about Narnia, she would find an excuse to not listen to us talk. Anyways, she was at "parties" with the officer (he came back to London with her) and her friends and spent half her time away from home. Peter was the happiest of them all. They treated each other like best friends, and we talked about Narnia whenever it was just us four.
Eustace's POV
When I went back to Cambridge to be with Mother and Father again, I missed Edmund, Lucy, Aunt, Uncle, and Peter with all my heart. I know I should miss Susan as much as I do all the others, but it is hard since she was away most of the time. We wrote letters back and forth and had short visits with each other. When I went back to the dreadful Experiment House, everyone found out I had changed including Them, which led me to my next adventure in Narnia.
