Shivering against a cold breeze, the blond teen nervously fingered the paper in his hands. The note had only shown up in his mailbox yesterday, but the words were barely legible—the crease marks all over the slightly damp paper had blurred the neat, almost mechanical handwriting. The words themselves were short, simply a hotel name and a room number followed by the words Meet me sometime—Sasuke.

Naruto's heart had soared. He had been waiting and waiting for the Uchiha to come back, so he could ask him a question. Just one question, and that would change everything. No longer would he have to pine after that pink-haired Sakura, and, better yet, he'd be much more connected to his friend.

Schrreeeee! Naruto jerked out of his daze as the train crawled to a stop. He couldn't be here already, could he? The blond panicked and almost stayed on the train—he was still a bit scared of his former best friend, and, really, who could blame him?--but he hopped off at the last minute.

He wandered around aimlessly until he found a big, neon sign baring the name he had read countless times, even though he'd never been to this part of town. He headed in to the lobby, not really surprised at its shabbiness. His friend had just gotten back, of course he was low on cash. He probably wouldn't even be allowed access to the Uchiha fortune for another couple years.

Deciding not to risk it with the rickety elevators, the blond headed for the stairs. Sasuke's room was on the fourth floor. Naruto climbed up one...two....three flights of stairs and then stopped, scratching his head in confusion. A large door with "ROOF" written on it in red letters stood in front of him. He hesitated for a moment before pushing it open. Well, this was Sasuke, you could never tell what he was going to do next. Sure, Naruto knew him a little better and could tell his emotions apart, but things like this still caught him off-guard.

The blond stepped onto the patio-like roof, a chilled wind instantly slicing through his thin, orange jacket. He spotted a familiar dark duck-butt haircut. He smiled at his friend, who was sitting on a ratty lawn chair by the edge of the roof, people-watching and apparently enjoying it. "Hey," the raven said without turning around. His voice was still just as icy and critical as it had been before he left. Naruto grinned and plopped into the second lawn chair.

They sat like that for a while, neither really wanting to break the contended silence. And, thus, it was hesitantly that Naruto stuttered out, "S-sasu?" His companion didn't move, but a quiet "Hn." answered him. Somewhat encouraged by the response, the blond trudged on. "T-there's been something I've been meaning to ask you for a long, long time, Sasu, Almost s-since the v-v-very first time I met you." He paused, noting that he sounded a lot like Hinata right now. "Sasuke—what shampoo do you use?" The raven snorted in spite of himself. "Tch. Dobe."
