9.
The package arrived that afternoon. It was addressed to Cloe. She took it up to her room to open it in privacy. As soon as she saw the writing she knew it must be from him. She could recognize that untidy scrawl anywhere. She opened the letter first. It was from Ved as she had expected. It said: Dear Cloe, I really miss you. How about we get together again. Meet me tonight at the playground at 8. Love Ved. Ps. I hope you like what's in the package.
She opens the package and inside she finds a beaded necklace with her name beaded into it. She sighs at the thought of seeing him again. She truly does love him but she just isn't ready. She knows he is, and she feels guilty making him wait before she can fulfill his needs. "Maybe I'll be ready when we meet again." She thinks. She fastens the clasp of her necklace and walks out of her room. She finds Mouse and Charlie playing with Mouse's pet mouse in the kitchen. "Doya wanna play too?" Asks Mouse. "Ah... No thanks. I'm on my way out." She answers. She returns to her room to grab her coat. She leaves the mall and heads to the casino. She runs into Ved in 'Virt garb' (as he puts it). He notices the necklace. "So you like it, do you?" He asks. " I love it." She replies. She and Ved go to an abandoned allay to talk. They decide to meet that night at the edge of the forest. Than they go their different ways. Ved ditches his virt clothes and returns back to base. His brother Jay is waiting for him. Jay pushes him into an empty room. "Have you been seein' a virt, Ved?" Jay asks. "Yeah right. Those freaks creep me out." He replies. Don't lie to me. You were seen." Jay hisses." Fine. I've been seein' her, but she means nuthin to me. Its just for fun. You do remember what fun is right?" Ved jokes. " If this gets out Ram'll kill you. End it know." Jay yells. "Yeah right." Ved mutters under his breath. As soon as she walked through the gate, Salene was on her, asking her where she had been, like an overprotective mother. "Cloe have you been with that Ved kid again?" Salene asks. "It's none of your business." Cloe yelled back. And stormed up the mall stairs to her room to think about her meeting with Ved that night. She thinks she'll be ready by than. Later at dinner Mouse was complaining about the T bars. But Cloe was listening. She is worrying if they'll get caught or not. Nah, you'll be fine. Her heart told her. The time finally came. Cloe crept away from the mall, hoping she wasn't seen. She had to wait a few minutes be fore she spotted Ved walking over towards her coming from the direction of the wood. "Hey Clo, Ready to go?" He asks. He takes hand and leads her deep into the woods, to his special place. It has a crackling fire, a blanket and pillows, and a picnic basket. He leads her to the blanket and sits her down. He opens the basket and takes out a bottle of champagne and pours it into two glasses. He gives one to Cloe and keeps the other. They toast to themselves. Ved leans over and kisses Cloe passionately.
