I posted this before, but changed my mind about it, so here it is...
AGAIN!!!!
This is Sam's POV long after the Ring has been destroyed and they're all back at the Shire. Sam is singing!!!
DISCLAIMER: I don't own 'the Lord of the Rings' + its characters, J.R.R. Tolkien does. I also don't own 'Fernando' by ABBA - I just screwed up the lyrics a bit...

It was a dark night in Hobbiton in the Shire. Rosie Gangee, wife of Sam Gangee was standing at the window of their kitchen, rocking their baby to sleep and gazing the stars. The silence of the night was gently disturbed by the sound of someone singing in the Gangees' garden.
"Can you hear the drums Frodo?
I remember long ago another starry night like this
In the firelight Frodo
You were humming to yourself
And softly playing with the Ring
I could hear the distant drums
And sounds of Orkish calls were coming from afar
They were closer now Frodo
Every hour every minute seemed to last eternally
I was so afraid Frodo
We were young and full of life,
And none of us prepared to die
And I'm not ashamed to say
The roaring of Uruk-Hai almost made me cry
There was something in the air that night
The stars were bright, Frodo
They were shining there for you and me
For liberty, Frodo
Though we never thought that we could loose
There's no regret
If I had to do the same again
I would, my friend, Frodo
Now we're old and grey Frodo
Since many years I haven't seen a weapon in your hands
Can you hear the drums Frodo?
Do you still recall that fateful night
We climbed up Mount Doom
I can see it in your eyes how proud you were to fight for freedom in this land
There was something in the air that night
The stars were bright, Frodo
They were shining there for you and me
For liberty, Frodo
Though we never thought that we could loose
There's no regret
If I had to do the same again
I would, my friend, Frodo
There was something in the air that night
The stars were bright, Frodo
They were shining there for you and me
For liberty, Frodo
Though we never thought that we could loose
There's no regret
If I had to do the same again
I would, my friend, Frodo
Yes, if I had to do the same again
I would, my friend, Frodo"
Rosie smiled gently. She knew her husband's adventures had affected him deeply, even though the Ring of Power had been destroyed countless years ago. She knew he cared for Frodo, who'd left with the elves.
The peaceful night continued, stars shining bright. All across the Shire, hobbits slept safe and sound.
