Simon found it so hard to believe that he had a girlfriend. For so long he had pined after Carley and she never even looked twice at him. But now Tara just blew her out the water with her fun personality and love for music.
Simon's luck with girls seemed rather up and down. One moment he was getting lucky. The next things went downhill afterwards no thanks to a certain human named Jay Cartwright. One weekend he stupidly went along to The Caravan Club just to prove Jay was lying about it being a massive orgy which he was. He did get some luck with a pretty redhead called Becky who seemed really into Simon but just when things were going well it turned out she wasn't ready for full blown sex and that proved Jay was being like Pinocchio more than ever.
One Valentine's day Simon surprisingly got a card from Hannah Fields who was in the year below him and at a disco for under eighteens tried to give Simon a hand job while being drunk. It was still amazing how she could learn to do that at such a young age and what turned her on about Simon was an even bigger mystery.
On the Swanage field trip a pretty Irish girl by the name of Lauren Harris seemed to have taken a shine to Simon despite Will having the hots for her and even that went nowhere when Lauren moved back to Ireland.
But now Simon was through moping after Carley and was even now enjoying his time with her. Which included snogging her in the school corridor much to the disgust of Mr Gilbert and envy of Mark Donovan who caught them one day and commented "Jesus Cooper good thing you ain't pining after D'amato anymore but still you could do better than Brown". Normally by this stage Simon would have reacted to that remark but Tara got there before him by yelling at Donovan "Piss off Baldimort". Try as he might Simon could not help laughing and it was true that Donovan resembled a chavy version of the villain from Harry Potter.
Donovan looked as though someone had hit him with a sledgehammer and all his macho behavior vanished and he took off down the corridor.
"I swear he makes Will seem normal" Tara said crossly. It was clear she still resented him for making her mate Kerry cry at Neil's 18th birthday party. Simon had to admit Will could be a twat but he was not better himself with the opposite gender Carley among them.
"You wanna come over to mine love" Simon offered "Hell yeah" squeaked Tara bubbly as ever.
With that the young couple made their way to the schools exit.
