When You Thought I Wasn't Looking

When you thought I wasn't looking, I saw you run too fast,

and I learned that you were different.

When you thought I wasn't looking, I saw you stop that car,

and I learned that you were strong.

When you thought I wasn't looking, I saw you answer that question in biology class,

and I learned that you were smart.

When you thought I wasn't looking, I saw you arguing with your family,

and I learned that something was wrong.

BUT

When I thought you weren't looking, I talked to Jacob Black,

and I learned the truth.

When I thought you weren't looking, I dreamt of you,

and I learned that you liked to watch me sleep.

When I thought you weren't looking, I told Jessica how much I really liked you,

and I learned that you liked me back.

When I thought you weren't looking, I missed you on those sunny days,

and I learned that you missed me, too.

When you thought I wasn't looking, I saw you looking back,

and I learned that you loved me.
