Author's Note: Written for the quote prompt challenge at tm_challenge on LJ. The quote I chose is If I'd observed all the rules, I'd never have got anywhere. - Marilyn Monroe. I also included a second quote from another source, just because it seemed so damn Glitch. Clue is in the title - first person to guess the source correctly gets a Tin Man ficlet. Usual disclaimers apply, mainly in that I don't own anything except the computer I wrote this on.

"That doesn't even look like it should be physically possible."
"Yes, well, if I'd observed all the rules, I'd never have got anywhere," replied Glitch as he continued to run around adjusting various bits of equipment, the goggles perched above his zipper making occasional scraping noises as Glitch's frenetic energy caused them to shift.
The machine suspended near the ceiling of Ambrose's lab seemed almost alien in nature, and the very few visible supports did not seem nearly sturdy enough to handle what was surely a massive amount of weight. When Glitch had told Cain that he was going to air out his lab from when he still had a whole brain and get 'reacquainted', Cain had been rightfully wary of the implications.
"What exactly does this thing do again?" Cain asked dubiously, studying his friend's invention with a critical eye.
Glitch shrugged, and then beamed childishly in Cain's direction. "Don't know. Built it in my sleep. Apparently, I used powdered moritanium. Highly unstable."
Cain's eyes widened as Glitch continued to ramble and prod at his machine. "I put a button on it. Hey Cain, you wanna press it and see what it does?"
Glitch looked up just as the door slammed on Cain's hasty retreat.
