"If thou shall seek, thou shall find…
But if thou are weak, thou be blind…
How you stay to how you leave….
Concurs the power to eternity….
Never back down, shall my love fail,
I will be brought to death by sail."
"Now," Professor Snape's suave yet uncanny voice muttered displeasure, echoed in the blue-lit castle-room. The class stayed completely silent, even the normally disruptive Draco didn't dare murmur a word. Whether the silence was only because of the bleak confusion of the students, or the widespread boredom they all had endured was little to be known. All that was known for sure was that one of the main reasons was the comprehensive fear all the children had of Professor S. Snape.
"Do you have the slightest idea of what this rhyme states?" He mumbled gazing only briefly to the class, then turning his attention back to the board in which it was written on.
"How disappointing." He kept his gaze still firmly on the board even though, as always, Hermione's hand was high in the air, stretched as far as she could.
"Please, Professor, the poem is none more than a warning to those who misuse power for their own good." She leveled her back against her chair, sitting taller with a smirk peeking out her keenness to answer a question correctly.
"Once again, Miss Granger, your interruption was not called for nor correct." His attention then drifted towards the supposed Miss Granger who was now plastered deeper in her seat with confusion and inconvertibility.
"But… sir…" She managed to peep out before the dark hair Professor silenced her with his bony hand.
"You got three things wrong, Miss Granger. Firstly, this is not a poem. It is a rhyme…"
Hermione's face only appeared muddled at his differing between a poem and rhyme. Surely they wore close enough to be the same meaning.
"Secondly," He continued. "It is not a warning of any sorts. I can honestly say I have no clue where you possibly got that from." The Professor was now turned around to face the entire dusky class.
"And thirdly, your interruption was most abrupt for a wizard of such a high grade point average." He concluded, swiftly drawing his attention back to the black board.
"Class dismissed. Read chapter 76 for tomorrow." The whole class scrambled up, now whispering and murmuring to each other.
"I expect…" The Professor's voice rose piercingly and soon everyone became hushed once again.
"a full essay…" the entire class sighed and moaned.
"by tomorrow." The professor finished.
Chapter 2
"What do you think his problem is? Does he like love to correct papers, or something?" Ron huffed as he ran to catch up to his two friends, the brunette haired girl named Hermione and the messy, and the ebony haired boy named Harry who was normally quiet.
"He probably is trying to keep up is reputation." Hermione whispered, staring at the chessboard-like, marble floor. Her pace was faster than normal, but no one could blame her for wanting to get away from the dreaded Professor Snape. Both Ron and Harry stumbled to keep up with her.
"Reputation?" Harry enquired softly, still tripping over his own feet.
"Yes, reputation." She nodded, shuffling her bulky books from one hand to the other. "Haven't you noticed how he has been acting the last couple weeks? I am surprised he didn't assign the whole book!"
"He hasn't acted strange lately, has he?" Ron laughed at first, than his smiled disappeared as he began to question himself.
"Yes he has. Harry, haven't you noticed?" Hermione stopped in her tracks, facing towards the messy haired boy.
"I suppose… though he has never acted normal." Harry brought up quietly.
"Well…. Yes… I guess you are right, but still… he has acted stranger than normal." She said persistently.
