A/N: This story was inspired by a conversation between my sister and I while she was studying for her college biology class. She really likes the word 'apoptosis'.

"Apoptosis is the programmed death of cells." Sakura rattled off the definition without a second thought. "Ok Ino. What is Necrosis?"
"The accidental death of cells?" Ino was more hesitant in her answer.
"Yup. See you'll do fine on the test tomorrow." Sakura said reassuringly.
"Ok so what's the difference?" Ino was still confused.
"Well with apoptosis the cells want to die." Sakura grinned. It's like all the cells are blowing their brains out saying 'to hell with it'."
"So it's cell suicide." Ino said with a giggle. They had been up all night studying for their biology test tomorrow and were getting very tired and very silly.
Ino looked down at here biology book. "It says in here that most cells have proteins that serve as weapons of self-destruction."
"Yeah and if the cell threatens the health of the organism the proteins are released." Sakura read from her book.
"The cell says 'I will so push this button' and 'boom' fireworks." Ino decided studying wasn't so bad after all.
"Get this 'apoptosis may be set in motion by the withdrawal of the chemical by which cells are reassured of their importance'. So it's like they have a suicide hot line." Biology was becoming rather amusing to Sakura. "I wonder if they have doctors trying to calculate cell suicide rate."
"So does that mean with necrosis the cells are like 'you'll never take us alive' and the attacking agent is like 'duh you'll be dead'?" Sleep deprivation was taking over as Ino giggled uncontrollably.
"You know what Ino? I really think we need to go to bed." Sakura yawned. "I'll get you a blanket."
"Thanks for letting me crash at your place and for helping me study." Ino snuggled under the blanket and went to sleep.
"Did you see the look the professor kept giving us?" Ino asked Sakura as they made their way to the universities cafeteria.
"Yeah I did. Once I got to the questions on apoptosis and necrosis I couldn't quit giggling." Sakura grinned at her best friend as they got something to eat and sat down at the table a couple of their other friends were at.
"Who knew apoptosis and necrosis could be so fun." Ino said with a giggle.
"A popped toast is? What's that? What have you two been eating? Man I'm sticking with ramen." Naruto looked at the two girls with utter confusion.
