The Moment I Knew

I checked my phone... again. Nothing. No texts, no calls, nothing. I looked towards to the door in case he burst through them, but he didn't. I think back to just a few hours ago, how you said, you promised, you'd come. I looked down straightening my dress, smiling to all the guests. I was still hopeful you'd come.
The hours continued to pass by. Honestly, now I just want to be alone, but your real friends always tend to know when somethings really wrong. They followed me down the hall, as I leave the party room. As I looked at myself in the bathroom mirror, I tried not to fall apart. The tears slowly start falling down my face, I just look at my friends to tell them, I I say hopelessly, "He said he'd be here".
I fixed myself, and walked out to the party. I stood there in my party dress, and Red lipstick, with no one to impress. As everyone stood around me singing "Happy Birthday To You".
But there was one thing missing, and it was you.
You call me later as I'm laying down looking at the stars, it's probably 3am, but I pick up anyway. You say, " I'm sorry, I couldn't make it." And I just reply " I'm sorry, too."
That was the moment I knew.
Background: Based off the song The Moment I Knew by Taylor Swift (which I completely recommend). So basically it's Marinette's birthday, and Adrien said he'd come, but he didn't (I know he'd probably never do this in the show, but it's a fanfic people). Anyway, at the end she realizes that she doesn't want to deal with all the pain he puts her through so she breaks up with him. (If you want more from this story Comment)
