Life was never going to be the same, Midna was sure of this. The renovations to the palace were going smoothly and she'd been accepted by her people with open arms. Her shadow subjects rejoicing at the idea that their home was becoming normal, happy again. Elated at the thought that their princess had become queen and their beloved Twilight kingdom would be whole once more.

Despite the fact that their ruler wasn't. No, she was far from whole. The moment she shattered the mirror, she had broken a part of herself but she was far too proud and stubborn to show it. Grumbling to herself, she adjusted her headdress. A good thing she wore that helmet for the duration of their adventure or she'd never have developed the strength to wear her new queenly regalia. Midna turned to her window and pushed the soft curtains aside, watching the broken pieces of Twilight descend into her sky. Her sky and not his.

It never rained in the Twilight realm. Something she was sure to miss, for it was in the rain that his eyes burned brightest, that his warmth was most comforting and that she'd felt most alive. Fresh water brought upon the lush grounds of Hyrule by the goddesses themselves, caressing her skin and making her feel like a light dweller herself. It was in that rain that she'd watched him tilt his head to meet the water, a blissful smile on his tanned features. He had turned to her and smiled that heartwarming smile of his, his blue eyes glowing in the watery gloom. His hand was extended to her in an effort to draw her out of the cave she hid in. To her shame, she had enjoyed the way his callused hand covered her tiny one. Link had pulled her from the shadows to enjoy the rain. It was one of the best things he could have done but also one of the worse. For in that moment she had fallen in love with him.

"Link..." She whispered, putting out her hand as if to capture the raindrops that coated her memories, she closed her fist and brought it to her chest where her fretful heart resided. "I hope it's raining where you are."

Just a simple one-shot. I hope you enjoyed it. Review?
