The sun is the first thing he sees when he wakes. It's blinding, harsher than he remembers and he collapses onto the ground, his legs feeling way too weak to keep him upright. Everything feels…strange to to him. Foreign. Almost as if he hasn't been moving in a while.
The last thing he remembers is a field of lava, a green-eyed Duelist as his opponent, and the screams of another calling out that person's name. He gasps and struggles to get back on his feet, but something…someone holds him down.
"Anija…it's all right, you're safe now!" it's a voice he recognizes. The teenager ceases his movements and slowly opens his eyes, still mindful of the sun that is shining so brightly down at them. It takes a few moments, but he knows who is holding him. His mirror, his shadow, his brother…
"Tsukikage..?"
Tsukikage's blue eyes are brimming with tears as he nods, his hand firmly clasping Hikage's. It's been weeks since he had been turned into a card and Tsukikage had long thought his brother had been killed. No one knew what happened to those who had turned into cards, and many had already assumed the worst. "Anija…I'm sorry. I know it is our clan's law but…I couldn't…I almost sought vengeance for you. I couldn't…"
It's a lot to take in, but Hikage only rests his hand on Tsukikage's clothed cheek. No words come from his mouth, but in his own way, Hikage is telling him that it's all right. "Anija…"
"Don't cry, Tsukikage. You're going to…" it's too late, there are tears in his own eyes too. The two shinobi embrace and silently cry together, sun and moon, a shadow of the other and yet the other's light. As it should be.
