Just a little B and B fluff I thought of. I own Bones in my mind, but that's it, gosh dang. Hope you like it!

Brennan was lying on her back, Booth was lying face down. That was how it always was with them. One does one thing, the other does the opposite. One takes a view, the other jumps to the other side of the argument. Angela said that their relationship was based on arguing.

Brennan sighed and flipped over in bed, avoiding glancing at the alarm clock, which cruelly blinked "3 AM" in red lights.

She knew that she should sleep. She had a big presentation the next day, and she didn't want to be tired for it. But she felt restless. It was a rare occurrence for her, but when it happened, she found it hard to make it go away.

This unsettled her. Restlessness was one of Booth's traits. The first vacation they had taken together had consisted solely of him stealing and hiding her books and trying to drag her out into the sun.

Booth was the restless on, and Brennan was patient, but tonight it was her tossing and turning and him snoring softly into the pillow.

Finally, she crawled out of bed and crept stealthily out of the bedroom. She squeaked open the glass door and stepped onto the patio. The night was cold and she shivered, but was immediately calmed by the bustling traffic below and the bright lights of the city.

Brennan had never lived anywhere that wasn't a city, or five minutes away from one. She'd been to villages and towns that she'd found quaint and relaxing, but she had never stayed long enough to feel at home there.

Booth, who had spent large amounts of his childhood on his grandparents farm, often spoke wistfully of that simple, rural feeling. He promised Brennan that they'd buy a ranch of their own when they were married, and he'd finally drag her away from all the dead bodies.

He often spoke about "when they were married." It was just something he invisioned for the future and had no problem whatsoever in including her in. If anyone else had said it, Brennan would have bolted for the door, but with Booth it gave her a sense of security. It made her feel loved.

She didn't here him come out onto the deck, and she started when she felt his warm hands place a blanket on her shoulders. She wrapped it snugly around herself as he pulled up a chair beside her.

"Hey." he said softly. No one could here them, but it seemed a time to keep their voices low.

"Hey," she replied, a warm feeling spreading in her fingers and toes. Her and Booth had been together seven months next week, and it amazed her how, after all this time, his presence could still make her heart beat faster.

"I know you probably want to be alone, I just wanted to make sure you weren't cold-" he said, with a sliver of insecurity in his words. It disappeared, however, when she took his hand in hers.

They sat there like that for a while.

"Are you nervous about your presentation?" he asked. She could tell he was desperately trying to figure out what had triggered such an out of character act for her.

"No," she said truthfully. "I was just thinking. About you. And me. And the future."

"Our future?" His face broke into a broad grin and he squeezed her hand excitedly. This had always been his territory, and he was delighted that she was joining him. The view was nice from where he was. "What do you see in our future, Bones?"

"I don't know. It's kind of blurry around the edges," she admitted. She looked at him carefully. "But I know that you're in it."

Both of them were a little taken aback by the complete role reversal of the situation. Brennan, the romantic one? Booth, the patient listener? But as they held hands under the stars that night, they knew that whatever the future held, it held for them both. Together. And that was all they needed to know right now.

So, that's it, not too long. Please review!
